Jacob vs Esau (the eternal battle)
The Jacob refered in the Bible is very likely to be the same presented on the show. Following are some facts that led me to conclude this:
1. The Bible states Jacob was one of the twin sons of Isaac and Rebecca, being Esau the other;
2. Esau wants to kill Jacob because of the betrayal he and their mother made to their father Isaac when he was blind, resulting in the injust obligation to serve Jacob (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob);
3. Jacob had 12 sons, having each one of them given birth to separated tribes, known biblically as “the twelve tribes of Israel” (in the series we see at least one tribe. I wonder if Richard Alpert or Ricardus is one of Jacob’s grandson or other relative?? After all he has the same physiological characteristics of Jacob, as not getting older being the main one);
5. Rebecca and Isaac were married 20 years without beeing able to have kids! It is known that throughout that time, both of them prayed fervently to God for offspring. God eventually answered Isaac’s prayers and Rebecca conceived. Probably the statue seen on the island has something to do with the worshiping to this mentioned God…;
6. Last but not least, Jacob long lived and finally died in Egypt! That can explain their work on the tapestries seen in the season finale and the hieroglyphes seen throughout the island.
