Dilmun
So Jacob and MIB, Flocke, Nemesis or whatever you want to call him have been playing this game down thru the ages. They both know its going to end someday and they know when. I’m thinking it’s about the future of life as we know it. Man was given a certain amount of time to prove he can overcome his tendencies to fight, destroy and corrupt. If man doesn’t, Apocalypse!
Jacob keeps bringing people to the island to try to change things or to prove to Nemesis man is capable of doing more. So far he hasn’t succeeded. Time is running out.
Nemesis is just irritated by the whole thing. Can’t wait for it to end so he can go back to where he came from even if it’s just dirt. Jacob bringing the people from the Black Rock to the Island pushes him over the edge to make him want to kill Jacob. Enough is enough already.
Somehow Jacob imprisons FLocke with help (see Achalli’s recent theory) from Richard. Jacob decides he needs an apprentice because he knows his time is running out so he shows Richard how to extend life or causes it to happen and lets him in on what is going on.
MIB and Jacob both put into action plans to make things happen. Flocke to find his loophole and kill Jacob. Both of them have to use other people to achieve their goals. When Nemesis first encounters John he finds someone whom he can dupe into doing what MIB wants him to do. With a little help from Hurley breaking the ashes that hold him to the area the cabin is located he is off and running. Â How exactly he got Lockes’ memories I’m not sure but I think we may find the answers in the Temple. Perhaps there is a way to tap into what the Smoke monster has recorded and upload them into a new body/ brain. It also might be part of what goes on with the dead bodies that the Others always seem to want. I do not think the smoke monster and Flocke are one and the same. By having some foresight into the future MIB strategically places himself where Ajira 316 lands and assumes Lockes’ role as leader of the Others which allows him to manipulate everyone around him. He has pretty much lied to everyone concerning his goals. Including Ben, as we see when those two go inside the Statue and Ben realizes Jacob and Nemesis know one another.
Jacob believes in freewill although he isn’t above allowing someone to die to further his cause, i.e. Nadia. We may see him order the murder of the Dharma Initiative because they keep messing around at the Swan and Orchid sites. The stakes are just too high. Somehow he has conceived a plan maybe starting with the Black Rock but maybe further on in time when he realizes certain people have traveled back to the Island from the future. Richard brings Jacob news of these people in the 50’s and 70’s which Jacob uses it to formulate his plan to prove MIB wrong. He arrives in their lives just at the time they need a little push to go in the direction he wants them to go. Kate and Sawyer as children, Jack Sun and Jin pre Island, and Sayid and Hurley post Island. I think we might even see Jacob and Faraday have a conversation while Dan is in Ann Arbor.
I also think we are going to see how the whole thing started. Maybe not the complete back story and history of the Island, there aren’t enough episodes, but enough to give us some answers. I think we are going to see the Island in its prime sort of like Atlantis, Eden or Dilmun. Jacob, MIB, Ilanna and others living together in peace using technology we are only beginning to understand today, trying to teach mankind to do the same. Something happens to disrupt their harmony (maybe someone attacks them or tries to steal their secrets),  MIB votes to destroy everyone and Jacob defends us.  A time line is set for us to get our shit together or else. Jacob is banished from the Temple and goes to live under the Statue. MIB becomes the phantom we meet in two different bodies. Smokey is created to protect the Temple and the Island. Ilanna leaves the Island to live out in the real world. The fdw is created to keep the Island from being discovered. All of us have heard legends and stories of Atlantis and Eden for the writers not to have get into it to much. Those bodies in the cave being referred to as Adam and Eve could be there to remind us of the story of us getting thrown out of the garden.
I think some people will be let down if this is the way the story goes but what are the other options? Is the island an alien spacecraft and we will see it fly out of the water at the end like in the movie The Abyss? Or it’s from the future sent back by Aaron and Ji Yeon to save us from ourselves and Walt is a stowaway to try to stop them?  The writers have used a lot of other stuff from our past;  from the Egyptians, Christians and Eastern philosophies so why not this too?

They are just human. It is not a game.
I don’t think we will see them till the series finale.
I like the idea that Richard told Jacob about the losties from meeting them in the past when they time travel.
Also that Jacob was banished from the temple. If he was “The Jacob” the others made him out to be you would think he’d be sitting on a throne in the temple.
I know it’s not a game, it’s a tv show. I’m not sure what Jacob and the other guy are but I am leaning toward their being human. I was trying to write this in a way as to not imply otherwise.
Thanks Josh. If Jacob did receive info from Richard he wouldn’t even need to travel time to visit the Losties.
