We already know that the MIB cannot kill Jacob but what if he cannot hurt or “possess” or kill anyone that Jacob has physically touched?  Perhaps Jacob is protecting our Losties on the island from MIB’s interference.   BUT, if one of those that he touches dies, which could not happen on the island, then is brought back to the island dead, THAT body would be fair game to use to poison the minds of the Others and Losties and prove to Jacob that he is wrong.    Locke is revealed to be the perfect person for this because of his love and respect for the island–he is willing to die to set everything right and protect it.  MIB has found his loophole, but he also has to have the other Losties back for Locke to manipulate and possibly he wants to kill them all just to add a period to his statement.  Locke telling Jack that they all had to come back to the island–did Jacob (or MIB) call a cosmic “do-over” which required imitating the original incident as closely as possible or maybe there are other rules requiring all pieces to be in play before the game can be won.  Ooh, I just thought of something else–maybe their escape from the island was a victory for Jacob somehow and MIB managed to pull them back in-including Ben–Locke being the catalyst still–to throw it back in his face, and kill him of course…..

Does anyone else think that Jacob is Aslan-like, in that he is accepting of his own death and does not fight it, though it be unjustified, and that gives him a greater power that maybe MIB is not anticipating?  Maybe even the fact that Locke was willing to sacrifice himself for the island will backfire on MIB…
