  1. It’s a great idea! The candidates that have been rolling round haven’t made much sense due to age and already knowing who their parents are.

Here is a great possibility and I think I’d love it if it were true.

    Top stuff!

  2. To add to your theory, this would explain the purpose of Jacob dwelling in the cabin Horace built, it was his Fathers.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I really dont think that it is Jacob. a) too easy. I sometimes overanalyze myself, and seem to forget that somethings are supposed to be discovered by us the viewers early on. But I do not think this is one of them. I dont think it is Jacob because it really soesnt play into anything we have seen up to this point. Why is the Shepard family hanging out in Jacobs cabin. I like the reasoning of how Richard recognized the name, but the others have heard of him. WIdmore at least seems disgruntled by the fact that Jacob sent Locke there, a young man of that position, I couldnt see him being important enough at that point to Alpert, to share Jacobs info with him. This is a good thought, good reasoning, just dont think its true.

  3. hey A.E.S, I love how skeptical you are, it just makes it more challenging for me! You’re right it does seem to easy but I am going to post another theory I have been tossing around about why Jacob hangs out in the cabin, why that black ash surrounds the cabin, why Jacob asked Locke for help, why Christian and Claire are in the cabin, and why Ben was so concerned that Locke may have heard something (Help Me) that Jacob had said. Check it out, let me know what you think!

  4. Joshcgs, your theory is packed with logic, reads extremely well and quite believable! I like it a lot!

I have full and complete respect for the concise manner in which you presented it, in addition.

I suppose, it’s just me, that doesn’t want to accept Horace and Amy’s baby might be Jacob. I don’t know why, really.

Regardless, it’s an outstanding theory! Good work!

  5. Jman, Love to read the other theory. Not sure how much you read stuff hear, I cant help but dissect everything ;] I will say, there is nothing more that I love, than someone who will fight for their belief. Looking forward to your theory.
I am especially picky on this subject for two reasons.
    1) Have tried since the episode to get it to work myself.
(The secon reason is my problem with the first)
2)We just do not heve enough info on Jacob yet.

I realize other people are just as much speculative, but we at least have already seen some peoples births on Lost, and just have more to go on.
Pretty much, anything you say, or I disput with wont have much pull, because we dont really know squat about Jacob yet.

BUT…I truly mean this last part..
I would love for you to prove me wrong on this. If for no other reason, to have more info on the man that is Jacob.

  6. whether the baby is jacob or not, i like this theory. i like how it all ties in to the cabin being that which his dad would have built. the only problem i see with this is that the version of jacob we seen was old, so i’m assuming he got caught in limbo at that age since people dont see to age when they time travel.

  7. Faith versus Science.

If Richard’s faith is based on Jacob being special by rote of being the only baby conceived and born on the island, and along comes young Ben who is exposed to this belief.

Perhaps Ben has been trying to break the curse of sterility simply in order to break Richard’s faith.

When Aaron is born on the island Ben has a partial answer. Baby conceived off but born on.

When Yi Jeon is born you have a baby conceived on, born off.

If young Ben meets Jacob’s midwife Juliet he might see her as the carrier of an answer and so tries to get her on the island as soon as possible in later life.

  8. You guys have been coming up with amazing ideas!

highbrow – just to point out I was not trying to contradict myself, what I meant by pointing out what Faraday says how “whatever happened will happen” is that if you think about it, he said it RIGHT BEFORE THEY WENT TO SAVE AMY, they pretty much asked his opinion and he said it does not mattter what we do. I said “whatever happened will happen” meaning that either if Amy comes back with Sawyer & crew or goes with the others, SHE IS STILL HAVING THAT BABY 2 WEEKS PREMATURE, regardless of the father.

I love the idea of Ben wanting to undermine Richard’s belief in Jacob by having other children conceived and born on the island/bringing in Juliet (the one who delivered our JACOB “son of Amy”) to perform the deliveries!

    Great ideas!

  9. Right, but “whatever happened, happened” means that if they decide to save Amy then that’s what happened. If they decide not to then that’s what happened. It doesn’t mean that Amy lived so she will live no matter what.

  10. Well it’s obvious that his name is Ethan now. This theory involved deep thinking, but it never really had legs. That would mean Ben was in his early 20’s and Jacob was in his early teens when everything in the previous seasons went down.
