Could Locke return to be protector of the island?

I remember Ben saying that once you are dead, theres no coming back, “Dead is dead”. However when Jon’s father pushed him out a window it looked like he died and then Jacob touched him and he came back to life. Even though Jacob is now dead I  think he will be able to come back somehow. I had always thought from the first season that Locke would be the most important character in the show. It would be epic if there would be a final showdown with Locke against Flocke! I don’t quite understand the flash-sideways but since Jon is alive in that “dimension” perhaps he can find a way back to the island? A little far-fetched but what could the meaning on the flash sideways be? If Locke could comeback to life once, he may be able to come back again. If he does, how do you guys think it will happen?

  1. It makes sense that that the alternate timeline Jon could come back, but immediately when I read this I thought of how Richard asked for his wife back and Jacob said he couldn’t do it. So maybe dead is dead. However, I agree with you that he seemed to bring John back to life after he fell out the window. Maybe he couldnt bring her back bc he couldnt touch her body.

  2. I recently read a theory that made me believe he will return! Apparently the name Zoe has mythological references involving reincarnation, and do you remember Walt telling Locke he dreamed about him on the island in a suit and people were trying to hurt him? I believe that Walt dreamed of a somehow reincarnated Locke in the future!

  3. I don’t know about reincarnation, but Zoe (Greek) means ‘life’ … so she’s a symbol of life, just like an ankh. (She’s also ‘living’) It can mean eternal life.

From a variety of name origin sites:
John 10:10 that reads “The thief cometh not, but to steal, kill and destroy; I am come that they may have life (zoe) and that they have it more abundantly.

One said in Gospel of Judas Zoe = Eve, (Hmmm).

Another interesting Gnostic Bible note: “The Reality of the Rulers was written sometime before 350 C.E. The Demiurge Samael arrogantly asserts he is the one true god. The Gnostic Bible p.166

Zoe, virgin daughter of Sophia (wisdom) will battle and punish the creator himself. The Reality of Rulers. The Gnostic Bible p.167

The dark rulers pursued and tried to rape Eve. However, they only raped a form of her. The snake, called the instructor, urge Eve to eat the fruit and gain knowledge. The Reality of Rulers. The Gnostic Bible p.167”

Was Flocke ever wearing the funeral suit? If not then perhaps the Locke Walt dreamed of was the real Locke!

  5. He was…when they first showed him at night, and he was under the blanket…he stood up, suite and all…unless of course John was risen from the dead upon arrival and then killed again by MIB.
But being that he was found by Ilana and crew on the plane…that would be pretty lazy on MIBs part…

  6. @ A.E.S
I don’t think Locke would come back to live just to get killed again by MIB. Plus he was a canditate so MIB wouldn’t be able to kill him. Also Walt said everyone wanted to hurt Locke, but no one really wanted to hurt Flocke, except that guy with the shotgun, who Ben took care of quickly. Locke is still buried on the island in his suit. I remember in one of the earier seasons Locke said “Nothing on this island stays buried for long”
