Hurley will be the new Jacob, How he got his abilities?
If Locke stays dead, I believe Hurley will be the new Jacob. He is the only one that didn’t have a ruined life back at home because they left the island, and willingly went back because he felt he was supposed to. Hurley can see the dead, and I believe that Christian Shephard was the one that gave him that power. Remember when Hurley finds out Charlie is dead, and falls behind and sees the cabin. This is the first time we see Christian Shephard on the island, (other than in that first season episode) and Charlie is also the first dead person he talks to. If Christian really is this higher power over Jacob and MIB, I believe he gave Hurley this ability in the case that Jacob dies, so he can talk through Hurley and tell him what to do to prevent “Locke” from leaving the island. Sorry if someone has said this already or if there are major holes.
I’m going to have to say his life did suck off the island seeing as how he went back to the mental institution and then was being chased by the police for a murder (he didn’t do it, but still, that’d suck for anybody)
I would say that Sun and Jin didnt have a ruined life back home. They have their daughter waiting for them and everything could be happy as long as they find each other.
I do think that Hurley is going to be a huge part of what’s to come I’m just not sure how at this point.
I think Jacob gave Hurley those powers to see the dead because he was planning his death for a long time and needed a way to still communicate with the Losties.
I agree – Hurley will be the key to some major plots to come. I think he was chosen by Jacob because he is not corrupted and most exemplifies the good side of human nature (thus helps to prove Jacob’s view of thge world). I think MIB knows this, and this is why he is frustrated by Hurley.
If christian is a higher power over Jacob and MIB(which is totally possible), why is he on MIB side the entire time? Now, we don’t know that for sure but MIB ,along the way, had constant connections with Christians that point in that direction. Also, all of Christians actions and advice he gives to the Losties seems to be doing MIB bidding.
On the other hand, the writers could be using misdirection, like they always do, to make us believe Christian is on MIB side. What if Christian knows that all of this (loophole,Jacobs death, 815 crash, ect) has to happen in order for Jacob to win the war against MIB. It could appear that Christian is on MIB side but really is just conning him into thinking MIB is getting what he wanted. That would mean Christian is on Jacobs side.
Where Christian stands in this is one of the biggest mysteries of Lost.
This show will not end with Jacob finding his replacement. It will end with Jacob proving MIB wrong. The End. It Only Ends Once.
Hence the title of the final episode.
And Sun’s life did suck off the island she was grieving over Jin the whole time!
