Episode 5: Let us discuss

Okay, after watching episode 5 I feel a little bit dissapointed in the lack of progress we were given. We know that Rousseau killed her team, we did not need to see it all happen. The main thing good that we got out of it was that Robert’s gun jammed when trying to shoot Rousseau.

The next thing that was very interesting to me was Charlotte’s episode and her coming clean that she actually did live (and grow up) on the island, and that she had an encounter with Faraday (who from a few episodes ago, we see in the Dharma Initiative anyway).

The third main thing was Locke and Christain’s encounter in the wheel room. It seems almost too obvious that Jacob is in fact Christian as we hear him say the lines:

“You came to my cabin to see me”
and
“Tell my son I say hi”

The first lets us know Jacob is either Christian, or talking through Christian. But the second line is something that Christian would have to say. And since Locke knows Jack (Christian’s son), he would be able to say hi to him as Christain knows that Jack and Locke know each other.

And lastly, us finding out for sure that Hawking is Faraday’s mother.

So does anyone want to add on to these Episode 5 occurences, or bring up something I didn’t list?

  1. I wouldn’t say I was disappointed in it ….at some point things may happen that we expect or have theorized all along as it does have to go somewhere.

i agree we already knew what happened with rouseau’s team….but now I am left wondering about ” The Sickness” and the “Monster” protecting the temple……which now we have seen a glimpse of…

Faraday’s mother was another confirmation which I had always been in doubt with…..now I am more curious as to who is Charlottes Mother…?

And what will happen now with only half of the o6 willing and ready to go back…..

  2. I agree this was a slow episode. Notice the wheel is alot like a pirate ships steering wheel…
Now Jacob and Christian are obviously one and the same, whether that’s always been the case or only after his death it doesn’t much matter. When Christian speaks, it’s probably Jacob. And if Jacob is using Christians body maybe the “Help Me” was Christian.
What get’s me is how they were constantly pressing the fact that all of them had to come back and now three will do for now.
And I agree that the Rousseau part was a filler for the show

  3. I was not disapointed at all. This is going to be a creeper. I swear these types of episodes were made for these site. This is one to be theorized and discussed
For one, I think Christian was actually Jacob in disguise, or at least Smokey.
I figure on this because a) when danielle shoots everyone on her team, she sasys that they are not themselves, or at least her boyfriend. I think what the one who is controlling Christian tell Locke that, because he knows that will bring Jack back to the island.
Thats the other thing that was crazy in this episode and I figured it would be unaprecited because it was one of the aspects that slowed the show down. The fact that the O6 are still not together for the return, even after Benthams death.
Locke screwed up. We know know for sure that Christian or whatever he is, told Locke specically, to move the island. And its because that happened that all this time travel is bloodying the nose of every Lostie in sight. We may not have seen everyones nose bleed, but all, even Locke seemed affected.
Charolette dies, and we find out Dan was on the island at the same time period as she was a little child. She grew up there. It was her home and she dedicated her life to return. And when she does, she dies, but not before a little conscience travel/dejavu/des waking up in bed, and remembering something that happened as a child. That the man that loved her tried to warn her not to return (but my guess is this didnt actually happen, not until now when he is with her when she dies. He will most likely travel at some point back to that time, like we saw in the premiere when he bumps into Chang, film the last Dharma video from Comic con last year and try to reinstate the Dharma initiative to stop the island from jumping so Charolette wont die. Chang is frustrated, probably because his understanding is since Dan is there, they didnt stop anything. Dharma still gets wiped out by Ben and in his eyes the story already played out.
I would bet something happens that changes something, for Dan to believe he can change something.
Well, sorry i took so much space I feel a lot did happen and just wanted to throw some conversation starters out there.

  4. And the smoke monster, we saw more of Smokie! I love that mangy thing, always taking people into the trees and just tossing them around. Then the next scene dragging some nobody underground, Gotta love the smoke monster.
We saw why Sun is going back, why I think Jack will go back, the others still up in the air though.
Locke not really crippled, but did you see the BONE hanging out of his leg…Goodbye walking, hello wheelchair.
And I am presuming Ben is the one who killed John, maybe even Sayid, this I thought was a informative episode.
I think we sometimes get lost in theories, and forget some things havent actually happened, we just assume. Then when they air, other questions arise and we forget about the past thoughts, and jump right to the next.
I do it myself, always want more. Greedy for the big mysteries and forget the small that lead us there.
sorry again, just really liked this one.

  5. I still think that it was a somewhat filler episode as jughead revealed one major conspiracy (whidmore on the island), and this one leads to a new one, the return of the O6. As for Hawking saying that the 3 so far will do, she doesn’t say that, she just says “okay, well let’s get started.” maybe there is training or some information she has to give everyone first.

  6. It was just for me a terrific surprise to hear the original transmission of the radio signal of the island, the “fatidic” numbers, in a voice that maybe was of Jack, or, more probably (by hearing) of Hurley????

  7. My head is still stuck on the sickness and the innoculations….I can’t remember who got innoculated and who didn’t. I’m fairly sure claire did and more than likely all of the others…..and the sickness itself which makes you ….you but not yourself….who could also be under the sickness ?

Did the o6 have the innoculations?…help me out with the facts here….?

  8. I think the smoke monster being the “security system” for the temple could go either way – either it was a true reveal OR it was a line that Danielle’s crazy boyfriend twisted in order to make it sound more ‘safe.’

I don’t think that scene is a throwaway, because I do think it connects some bigger purposes of the people who have managed to co-exist with the smoke monster on the island, like the Others.

I also think it would be way too easy if this episode was somehow the reveal that Jacob is Christian. I wouldn’t be surprised, but…I also think that there is much more to be explained.

  9. Charlotte says she wasn;t supposed to go back becasue she was told if she did, she’d die. If someone leaves and comes back, they die.

If the 06 come back, will they die? Is Ben manipulating the 06 as some sort of sacrifice that will save himself?

Sayid says Ben is only out for himself. Is this an act of selgf-preservation by Ben and Hawking?

  10. It only seems like people start to die when the wheel is off axis. I think Locke saved the day on that… We’ll see.
I don’t think Ben is out to kill the o6. I think Ben is in the dark a bit. something he’s not used to… Widmore has more control over things then he thought. I think Widmore and Hawking had a child together (Daniel) and Ben just realized it.

I think you’re right about self-preservation. I think he’s realized his importance doesn’t compare to the oceanic survivors. I think we’re going to see Ben taken out. Maybe early next season. I see Desmond killing him (to protect Penny). Ben will become unnecessary.

  11. Roberts gun didn’t work because Rousseau had done something to it. I remember in the season one episode when we first meet Rousseau, Sayid tries to shoot her with the same gun Robert had used, but he couldn’t, and Rousseau commented “Robert didn’t notice that either” or something to that effect. So it wasn’t the island saving her, it was her saving herself.

I absolutely loved this episode! I wouldn’t consider it a filler episode at all.

When Charlotte told Dan that he’d warned her not to come back to the island when she was little, I was like, “wow”. It was amazing.

I still don’t buy Christian being Jacob. He told Locke to say hello to his son so he must be Christian. If it is supposed to be the big Jacob reveal, they did it poorly. I still think Jacob is someone else.

Can’t wait for the next episode!!

  12. BRILLIANT episode.

Lostfan, I think it was Des, Claire and Aaron who received innocculations, as far as I can remember. Perhaps some of the Others too?

Anyone else on the same track as me, that perhaps Daniel is Charlotte’s father? Did he say he loved her or was IN love with her? If its the latter, it pretty much discounts that theory!!
