I think we had two key things happen with Ben last night.
1 – He was just about ready to give up.
2 – He realized there is more to the story then he even knew.
BOth becoming very difficult. Though I think he’s quite selfish and our evil antogonist, he’s quite the slave to the island and what it stands for. Whatever his intentions, they must coincide with the islands plans…without it, he really is nothing.

I am convinced Ben was completely taken off guard, by Desmond’s appearance.
Ben is a man who would not appreciate being left out of ‘the know’, so to speak. You have to know, he’s going to be right on top of that one now.
He absolutely lost his cool with the ’06’ who were in the car. I saw it as Ben is under a time constraint and orders from above……hmmm
You bring up a point about Desmond and Ben that has been bugging me for awhile now.
Have Desmond and Ben ever officially met?
So when Ben sees Desmond, does he recognize the importance of how close he could be to Penny?

I do, suspect there is a reason for this, but cannot speculate at the moment.
Ha! Great point about Desmond & Penny. Even if Ben & Desmond have never met, don’t think for a moment this moment has escaped Ven’s attention.
Ben’s cool demeanor, suggests to me, he will be hot on the trail of Desmond, very soon!

Ben and Desmond haven’t met but isn’t it possible Ben has watched Des from The Pearl?
kimberly, one additional point on Ben. I think Ben has given himself far greater importance, than he deserves.
He found out he doesn’t know all that is going on. It appears Ms. Hawking has higher authority than Ben.
Knowing Ben, this won’t sit well with him. I fully expect his own ‘personal agenda’ just became larger.
