Why Ben moved the island

It has always bothered me as to why Ben volunteered to move the island.

  1. ckchristian, I think you make a very good point about why Ben left ‘the island’.

I agree with Ben being an ‘other’, the time shifts would not apply to him, had he have stayed.

I think it was to exact revenge on Widmore and kill Penny.

  2. Ben is not an other, one of the original inhabitants, he is from the Dharma Inititiave, just like Charlotte, so he probably would have died just as she did.

  3. Are we certain that Charlotte is Dharma?

Does it matter that Ben killed Dharma and joined the others?

Ben must have moved the island so that he could leave…..but for what purpose……I’m thinking something to do with widmore..

Also Ben looked shocked to see Desmond at the church….. is he wondering about Penny and his revenge.?

  4. Been asking myself the same question Why would Ben leave? Well I don’t think it is to take revenge, I mean couldn’t he just have someone do that for him and have the head sent to him (SEVEN). I lean towards him knowing the effects of time travel would do him in because of how long he has been on the Island.

There was a theory on LT.com that stated that Ben was increasingly going insane and it all started with his mother dying at his birth. Followed by years of abuse by his Father it went on to make a pretty good argument that Ben was Bonkers. Maybe we are seeing him start to unravel a bit and just maybe he is the true villain trying to wipe out anyone in his path that he sees fit. probably change my mind on Ben another 5-6 times a show.

  5. My thoughts are i think, before Flight 815, he’d had an encounter with future Sawyer and co.

They may have told Ben all about the time jumps and that he himself had turned the wheel. I think that is why he turns the wheel because he knows he has to and he can’t change anything.
