We all remember how the series started, and we were reminded of this in the beginning of “316”.

To answer the question in the topic, the answer is yes, becuase at the end of 316 we see him in the Dharma times, which is pre-815. As for being born on the island, that’s a huge stretch.
To add to the born on the island, we see in “White Rabbit” that Jack got beat up at school for sticking up for a friend or something like that.
So unless Jack was born on the island, and then left it really shortly after birth, I don’t see him being born on the island.
As for actually being on the island before the crash, I think it is definately possible, as many theories have claimed that Jack knows too well what to do in the Pilot episode, and it seems he knows more than someone who wakes up on an island for the first time should.
So you suggest that Jack’s mother was on the island too then, and also fled as we see her off the island. To me she just seemed so naive for someone who was on the island.
Good point, but I can’t find it to be a coincidence that they introduce Ray, the grandad. He seems to be missing something, and I believe he says that when he does in fact escape they will never find him. The family if you also include Claire and Aaron seem too connected to the Island.
Also consider Jack’s posture…..on back, hands out….same as Ben’s when he landed in the desert after turning the wheel. Classic time travel posture……I’ll be curious to see if John lands the same way. And remember the tattoo translation (Jack’s)…he walks among us but isn’t one of us (or something like that)….this also is very reminiscint of a “Christ” mentality.

cappayne—I guess I should have specified the timeline. Funny comment, I didn’t think of it that way.

Christian (if it is actually Chrisitan) is way too familiar as well. I do think that he fled with Jack shortly after birth for some reason.
