Ben and Jack before 316 went down
Did anyone catch it on flight 316 when Jack asked Ben “How can you read?”, meaning how can you concentrate on something else when we know something is gonna happen to the plane? Ben’s response to Jack was “my mother taught me.”
How could Ben’s mother teach him how to read when she died giving birth to Ben? Did he just let something slip, or was it a figure of speech. Could it have been a small joke to ease the tension, or another secret that Ben has?
Definately not a Freudian Slip. There are no slips in LOST, and especially not from Ben; everything he says is important.
He was simply being sarcastic in my opinion, but he lied doing so! I think he is ready to do big things on the islnd so he is preparing his lying ways pre-crash/land.
I am not so sure.
I can just see Ben’s mother appearing to him on the island and coaching him in his reading choices, like a ghostly academic adviser !
