Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat
So i decided to think back to the bible, having learne the story of jacob. He fathered twelve tribes of israel, and he could be the progenitor of characters we know. His favorite son was joseph, which could be mirrored in locke. all of josephs brothers were jealous and even tried to kill him because they were jealous of jacobs love for him. joseph however escaped to egypt (possible connection with hieroglyphs). Joseph also was adept at interpreting dreams (allowing him to foretell the future), which gained him much power in the kingdom of Egypt. Dreams have been very important in Lost, and have also allowed individuals to see into the future.
Ben and Dan were both children of jacob as well, but it seems like widmore is acting more like a brother from the biblical story, jealous of his power and pretending to be on his side to take advantage of him.

I have much more to post here but dont have time to.
I will say that this story has a lot more to it. Jacob had 2 wives his favorite was Rachel the other was Leah they were sisters. Jacob bore twelve sons. 2 of them were by Rachel Joseph and Benjamin. Now Joseph was favored over all of them by Jacob.
His brothers hated this and were jealous. Joseph followed them every where they went and were expected to watch over him. They did not. As a matter a fact one day they left him behind to go and do there work. When Joseph caught up they were angered and threw him into a pit and planned to leave him to die. Well they changed plans and decided to profit by selling him into slavery. He did not escape he was sold into slavery. The story really explodes from here and there are many Lost parallel’s(As are a lot of other shows, and stories). What happens to Joseph is amazing.
I got cut off and wanted to finish my comment sorry.
He eventually ended up in Egypt after being sold a couple times. From here he worked his way up to second in command of all Egypt. He would eventually encounter his Brothers who were there in Egypt for for food as there was great Famine for many years. He tested them to see if they had changed. He also told them they could not come back again unless they brought there youngest bro Benjamin. It goes on.
I will be back to post more. no time. I would encourage peeps to read story my favorite in the Bible Genesis 25-50. This was off top of my head so sorry so messy.
Last thing between the time that he is servant and works his way to the top of EGYPT really explains Josephs story. I believe if I am right this was more amazing because Joseph was not Egyptian, But a Jew.
he rises to power because he can interpret the pharoah’s dreams, and therefore gains favor in the pharoahs eyes.
It’s deeper than that ekolocation. Joseph struggled his whole life, But everyone in his path saw The Lord in him and treated him as such. They saw this because everything he touched and everywhere he went were prosperous. Always. He was sold to Potiphar as a slave from the Ishmaelites, Who purchased them from his brothers.
Potiphar was the Captain of the Egyptian Army. Quickly he saw the Lord in Joseph and actually relinquished his House under Josephs control.
Potiphars wife eventually tries to have an affair with Joseph while Potiphar is on a mission. He refuses and she sets him up and tells her husband that Joseph tried to get with her.
Joseph is again imprisoned and guess what happens the prison and the guards see something special in him. They cater to his every need and wait. Then the Pharaoh of all Egypt has some dreams that need explaining and the greatest minds in his Kingdom cant help. Until A guy in prison named Joseph hears of these dreams and realizes his destiny.
And this is where the story reaches it’s halfway point.
this is where we get to the point in the story where Joseph has his brothers bring Benjamin to him in exchange for food (there was a famine in Canaan and Joseph having prevented the famine in Egypt has now become the Viceroy of Egypt and he controls the food supply). When Joseph finally see’s Benjamin again he is so caught up with emotion that he forgives his brothers and has them go bring has father “Jacob” to Egypt.
Jacob lives the rest of his life in Egypt, and on his deathbed he wanted to tell his sons the exact date when the Masaiah would return, but feared one of his sons was not a righteous man, and therefore the secret died with him.
