Can’t change the future?
How does Faraday know Desmond is unique in that he can change the future so it doesn’t just correct itself? (He certainly couldn’t/didn’t change Charlie’s drowning future.)
If there we are leading up to the purge, wouldn’t Desmond have to be around – as he is unique in all this.
