I think that Danielle’s partners weren’t sick, they just had their “innocence” lost, just as Ben, because they got inside the temple, and that is why Danielle thought they were sick but maybe they were only taking the island’s orders…

You took the words right out of my mouth. I theorised that very same point with my colleagues this morning.
I think they may have seen their own deaths in the temple and seeing that Danielle would kill them, they tried to kill her first.
