The island has moved
If this is a time loop then for time to repeat itself this must mean the island (assuming it doesn’t move again) has reverted back to it’s original location for 815 to crash in 2004. Otherwise the Losties won’t crash on the plane and all the things we’ve seen so far won’t happen again.
It may just be me but it seems that either im way off or this can’t happen. I feel like im missing something major here but it’s not clicking into place, please help me

I think the location of the island moved in 2004. The losties were traveling through time and not the island. Also, its not a loop.
bigdaveg, you bring up a good point about the location of ‘the island’.
I suspect that Ms. Hawking with the use of the Pendulum got a fixed location for #316 to arrive on ‘the island’, so that would not present any problems.
As for the future of #815, they may be able to cover it off, with some of the ‘time’ elements. For instance, if they jump to the present year. Just a thought!
The physical location of the island is something that has not been fully explained. It was only alluded to by Mrs. Hawkings in the Lighthouse, and we will have to see if the writers can come up with an explanation that makes since.
I’ve said it before. The island moves about all the time independently.Remember when all the 8:15 survivors had to move all their stuff away from the rising sea level.Remember when faraday’a payload was 30 minutes late. The island tends to drift a massive amount in a short space of time. That’s why no one can ever find it.I think it leaves a wake of some kind, which is the only way to and from the island. The wake is where the special bearing people have to follow to get to/from the island.
Did you read my idea about the island possibly being the home of King Kong.yeah,it’s definitely “skull island”.It’s difficult to find,it’s shrouded in mystery and there is evidence of a tribe of some kind that once inhabited it.
MY whole idea was that the last remaining survivors will go back to the day of the flight, and do the whole thing all over again. But,think about this. The swan station was destroyed in order to enable the electro-magnetic energy to dissipate naturally around the island.Did you notice that ben manipulated locke into destroying the swan, but only then did ben destroy the equipment in the orchid,to use the donkey wheel.Makes you wonder how long the machine had been locked down like this by the dharma hippies, and why?.My personal thought’s are’nt so wild. The time machine got locked down to prevent prehistoric mammals from entering our “real time”.King Kong was there, but dharma managed to send him back to where he came from ,and then locked it down. Some how from now until the finale we shall see the machine being locked down again,or a whole load of dinosaurs!!!!.But either way, i think the story will continue through re-runs because the survivors of 8:15 will be forced to go back the 22 september, the day of the flight.
Think of this story like a book. Most books get read time and time again.this story as a book could epitomize the whole idea of books, by ending where it started.Maybe we will see jack landing in the forest in the final scene of the finale. You read the last page of this book, and you can go back to page one to pick up the story where it left off, just like starting a new chapter.
Sorry for elaborating ,but i could’nt help myself.S’ok ,ive written this theory before on this site………..michael….
Beaches do erode. That’s not really evidence of a moving island… of course it could be or it could not. As far as the rocket… I think that was meant to convey a time rift between the Island and the outside world. This is make clear by the fact that it feels like a short trip to the people ON the helicopter, but it takes a long time (over an hour if I recall) for them to transit according to the perspective of people on the island. The rocket was meant to be Faraday’s version of Dr. Brown’s stopwatch on the dog experiment in Back to the Future. In fact, the only evidence we have of the Island moving at all (other than the testimony of known liars) is when it completely disappears after the Wheel is turned… indicating that the Island suddenly moved, not gradually. That is an interesting idea about the Swan being a “lock” to keep the island from moving… or being moved.
