Undercover Other, births on the island, two kinds of Others and Ben as leader
I have a few theories here that I’m putting together because they’re all kind of connected. Sorry if anybody else posted these.
Amy is actually an Other, who is undercover in the Dharma Initiative.
My guess is that Amy infiltrated the Initiative, fell in love with the Paul guy, decided to stop giving the Other’s info, and then when they were out for their picnic the others discovered her and were pissed.
To me there was something ‘off’ with that whole transgression between Amy, Paul and the two Others.
Then at the meeting she seemed pretty quick to give Sayid the ax. I think she was afraid that Sayid was actually a defunct Other and would blow her cover.
This brings me to my next theory. Only people that are supposed to be on the island can give birth. Amy had Ethan because she is a ‘True Other. She is a person who was chosen by the island and/or Jacob to be there.
Now if that’s the case why couldn’t all those Others in 2004 be able to give birth without dying? They weren’t True Others. They weren’t chosen by the island or Jacob.
There are two kinds of Other’s. The Island’s chosen ones and the one’s chosen by Ben. It was always strange that these people can move without leaving a trace and appear out of nowhere, but then we get people like Juliet who aren’t exactly Tarzan.
So why are there two different kinds of Others? Because Ben isn’t supposed to be the leader. By some fluke of the system he was thought a possibility to be the leader. I’m thinking he got confused with Locke.
So Ben is told that, as the leader he is the only one who can see and talk to Jacob. And he has to relay what Jacob wants to the Others. So Ben walks into the cabin to get Jacobs orders. But Ben can’t see or hear Jacob.
The con artist that Ben is, he walks out of the cabin and says that he and Jacob just had a full discussion about the future of the island. He starts making things up for what he wants to do in the name of Jacob. He decides the Other’s should start being more civilized. He moves them out of the Jungle into the Dharma barracks and starts having book clubs. He also starts making up his own lists of people to bring to the island. People who aren’t supposed to be there.
Meanwhile Jacob and the Island have no way of getting the people that they actually want to be there. So they have to go about other routes to get them. For instance crashing ships and planes onto the island.

Yeah, that sounds very reasonable.
reeves4815, I truly like your theories and thoughts. You make a lot of sense on all three counts!
If Amy turns out to be Amelia, the older lady we see in Juliette’s book club back in Season 3, this makes complete sense to me. She was allowed to live, in addition to Ethan, because they were still considered to be ‘others’.
I also think you are right about Ben, being mistaken by Richard for the next leader. I have never believed that he is able to communicate and/or see Jacob.
Therefore, it would make sense that any new ‘others’ being brought to ‘the island’ are ones ‘the island’ have not chosen!
That would make your statements about child-birth issues and 2 separate groups of ‘others’ fairly accurate.
I really like the idea that ‘the island’ may not allow women to bear children, unless they are selected by ‘the island’, but I also think there is a little more to it!
Nice work!
wow that is very clear and in my book these would be great additions to the story if they were true maybe they are.
About the ben thing not talking to jacob I am 10000000000000% sure that is right because since the island wants john to be the leader thats why he heard “help me” loud and clear and not ben because ben hasn’t heard anything at all.
Right you are lost4life! I think the reason Jacob asks John Locke for help, is because Ben has taken control.
We already know for a fact, that ‘the island’, is communicating its wishes to John Locke.
Can’t say how much I like this theory!
You nailed it ! It fits perfectly.
Richard lies through his teeth when he tells Widmore that Jacob wants Ben to live. This would set off a domino effect of wrong-ness in Jacob’s plans for the island (or the island’s plans for Jacob?).
Richard’s decision is based on Sawyer vouching for Kate and asking for his help in saving Ben. This would come from Sawyer’s credibility as one who is also waiting for John Locke’s return (as is Richard).
Everything happens because Ben should have died (or never been shot). He certainly never should have been leader.
I love this theory! I totally agree that Ben NEVER communicated with Jacob, and like a child throwing a tantrum, did what he wanted and took power into his own hands. He pretended to know Jacob the whole time, which is why he hates Locke so much. John is the leader, and naturally, being a man of faith, communicates with “Jacob”, the island, or smokey and Ben can’t stand it. He acts out of childish rage in killing him, or trying to, twice. And we know he intended to a third time.
