We all know how desmondo got to the island, by his boat getting cought in a storm and crashing on the island, then we find out that the DI saved him and brought him to the swan to push the button with that american commander person, they have now been down there for im quessing 2 years now that america cammando dude is making the invisble blast door map where it shows every location and cerberus vents and all that good stuff……….. one poblem THE DHARMA IS ALREADY DEAD
Desmond wasn’t DHARMA or an Other. He crashed on the island and was saved by Kelvin Inman (commando dude who was pushing the button). Inman thought that Desmond was his replacement. Desmond didn’t know what he was talking about (what did one snowman say to the other?). Still, he recruited Desmond to hang out with him to help him push the button. In the mean time, Inman was secretly repairing Desmonds boat so he could escape the island and leave Desmond to push the button.

I get what you’re saying. The Dharma were wiped out before Desmond crashed on the island, so who is he? The only explanation would be that he’s an other, right?
He could have been DHARMA. They do long shifts out at the Swan and he just happened to be on shift there with Radzinski when the purge took place. They survived and were standed out there waiting for their replacements.

I agree, I think that Radzinski was a hardcore DI and would drew that hidden map for the DI to reference incase anyting like the purge were to happen. Radzinski obviously killed himself, and Kelvin was probably waiting down there for mad long without even knowing the purge happened. Maybe that is why Kelvin took in Desmond, he was lonely, no1 ever came to replace him, he saw Desmonds boat as his escape because he knew no1 was ever coming to replace them. No Snowmen talking to eachother!!!
I believe that Ilana and crew are on the island as sort of an advance party from the DI. The Initiative is going to be resonstituted. Radzinski may have known about the purge. He knows he needs to get information about the island and the stations to whoever comes to the island from the DHARMA Initiative so they can get things started again. So he makes the map.

wait even if that were true kalvin went back up to the button he had to or end of the world also if ben didn’t know about the swan he would have soon enough because the others took over the tv room one that watches all the other staions especily the swan.

Maybe they knew about the Swan but not about the button… Maybe they thought it was funny that one of the silly hippies was still in there going about some stupid experiment…
or maybe they did know but they also would know what would happen if no one pushed the button and since he was already doing it. no need to change the cycle.

What about the fact that the Swan workers were instructed to wear those protective suites and the fact the door said quarantine. Any connections?
Radzinski designed the Swan… he was building that model of it remember? So if he designed the Swan, he probably also designed just about everything else on the island. I can’t imagine such a small population having a large staff of architects. He was it. He built the Swan, then the Incident happened… whatever it was. Things go crazy, radiation everywhere, so he holes up in the Swan with Kelvin waiting to be relieved… but everyone else has been gassed, so it doesn’t happen. So he starts drawing a map from memory of all the Dharma structures. He leaves and Kelvin starts going out looking for him… and he adds his discoveries to Radzinski’s map. I don’t think they were Others… I think they were just holed up in a cave so long pushing that damn button that they went crazy.

Willis is right. But what does that mean? Just because they’re DHARMA doesn’t mean they must have been on the island since the ’70s. The purge happened in 1992. So Kelvin comes to the island after Desert Storm and is put on button-pushing duty. Then the purge happens and he’s stuck waiting for relief with the nutball Radzinski.
It is not necessary for Radzinski to have designed everything on the island. Each station did some different kind of research and I think the Swan was his. I doubt he designed the rest.
