Star Wars
I thought Hoth was quite a good episode, i really like Miles so im glad we got a bit of history. But what got me thinking the most was the Star Wars conversation between hurley and miles. Hurley is writing a script for Empire and is making changes and is then going to send it to mr lucas. OK so what would happen if he did actually sent the script to lucas?
Assuming Lost is not going to change the empire script in the show, we know that the Empire script is the script that we know today (im not really a star wars fan but im sure some people know it) and hurley knew. So lets say he sends the script to Lucas, for it to reach the script we know today a few things couldve happend, Lucas doesnt pay attention or read hurleys script or he does use the script for the movie but leaves out hurleys changes so it goes back to the original script. If he does use the script hes taken it from hurley, he then makes the film using the script he got sent by a random person.

So that would mean George Lucas did not write the best StarWars movie…but he did write the bad ones….i can believe that!
No, it would mean Hurley wrote a bad one and Lucas wrote two and a half good ones and two crappy ones.
sorry, blocked the new ones out! having a 5 year old son who is mad on star wars will do that…still he has two light sabers 🙂
lol, ok getting away from the point..
Who writes star wars if hurley sends the script to lucas??
isnt the simple answer that off the island hurley doesnt exist, on the island hurley exists from coming back in time.
so if hurley sends the script, lucas will recieve it now, as in 2009, kind of like the diffrent time line someone was talking about before…???

i dont think its the case that off island in the 70’s is 2009. We’ve seen people come and leave the island in the 70’s and they seem to be from the same period. Also its been alluded to on numerous occassions that on island and off island time is the same in the 70’s. For example we know baby miles and hes mum left the island then and they didnt pop up in 2009.
If hurley goes off island and sends the script lucas would receive it in the 70’s…
Agree fully, the world around the island is most likely the same as on island.
I think that oculd be a very good reason why they dont want people leaving after they arrive, it could actually screw up the space time continuom, and they could cause some sort of paradox…
and the fact that they could tell someone where the island is…
perhaps the dhamra folks tell people whocome to the island to dress and act as if it was the 70’s to create the illusion…
or is that just silly?
x
Actually it isnt ‘that’ silly…
but the fact that the DI members are dead, and now on the show alive may put a stop to that idea…plus the two Miles just wouldnt add up…literally…
yes very interesting about them not being allowed to leave the island. I always wondered why it was such a big deal to the others that widmore left the island, its obviously against their ‘rules’ for some reason and it could be because of messing up time, paradox etc. But Dharma seem quite naive about these things and im sure they go and come from the island all the time, mothers go off to give birth. This maybe one of the reasons they had to be wiped out, maybe..
i see what you mean…
but coldnt it be possible that if he rewrites star wars, sends it to lucas, lucas recieves in the seventies as you suggest.
but hurley has made a duplicate letter, and some how goes back to 2009, and shows lucas the letter, lucas should remember it.
and roberts your dads brother……lucas has a new idea for a film
i hope that made sense

its a chicken and egg thing and i think the writers purposefully put it in there as a clue to time travel.
Simple answer-
Lucasfilm (and most other production companies) do not open packages containing unsolicited manuscripts. You have to go through a reputable literary agent. This is to pretect themselves from lawsuits.
Lucas had already written the outline to all NINE Star Wars movies before production started on A New Hope. Even though the details changed along the way, he was not “looking for a sequel to Star Wars” as Hurley assumes in the episode “Some Like It Hoth”.
Hurley’s notebook would be returned un-read and the big guy would be crushed.
By the way, I agree. Dude, the Ewoks sucked.
🙂
well…..as an ewok, i resent that!
x
Ewoks were fine, geez… At least one of them gave his life for the rebellion so have a little damn respect!
I think it makes total sense that the island is in the ’70s and the outside world is around 2009… It would explain all the hippies in Ann Arbor.
yes! it does make sense, thank you. its like poland, theyre still living in the early nineties, and russia is farely….shut up!

IF Hurley does send in the script then it could be another example of the kinds of “closed loop paradoxes” I was talking about awhile back. But I don’t think he’s going to send it out.
