Ok, So thisw is based on the fact that we know nothing about the temple yet except it can heal and you lose your innocense.

i also think hurleys going to try to stop the plane from crashing by broadcasting the numbers at the radio tower hoping it gets back to his future self on “not” to use the numbers but ultimately is still the reason he’s on that plane….but i dont think they’ll have time for that this season
Maybe Ben said “I want him to want to save my life” because that’s the only way Jack would do it. Ben did kidnapp him and his friends and lock them all up. It’s hard to force someone to do a surgery when their that mad at you because then they’ll purposefully do it wrong or something (kind of like what Jack did do). I don’t think that really has anything to do with this theory.
Maybe Ben said “I want him to want to save my life” for the exact opposite reason since he knew that Jack wouldn’t want to save his life in the 70’s once he had a reason to not want to do so.”
And by forcing and playing with Jack’s head in the future (present date) would ensure that Jack would have it’s reasons to refuse to do it in the 70’s.
If he had saved Ben’s life by that time, Ben wouldn’t become an other and probably would never have entered that temple to lost his “innocence”.
The DHARMA folks would probably never be murdered (if that is really the case) and nothing of what we saw would have happened.
Remember that Ben always have a plan and I think that everything that is happening is going exactly according to plan and no drastic change will happen on the timeline to the point to change everyones fate on and off the island.
I think that the time to end with this time traveling ala back to the future is way over due.
Season 5 so far is good but I’m pretty sure and I’m really afraid that Season 6 will be just one of those “rush rush” season where they will have to explain everything for that past 5 season in 17 episodes.
My reason to fear that is that maybe they don’t have enough substance to back it up after all.
