Is Richard lying? If we see the submarine leaving the island and bringing Sawyer, Juliet and Kate to relative safety off the island how can they all die?

well we saw sawyer, juliette, and kate back on the island in the previews for next weeks ep…so I assume the sub somehow u turns and goes back to the island. makes one wonder why they bothered with it in the first place…
kate obviously tells sawyer and juliet of jack’s/daniel’s plan. so i assume that sawyer takes over the sub and gets it back to the beach so that they can try and stop jack from detonating the bomb.
Agreed Julliet lover. I do, however, think Richard may have said that b/c the entire dharma group died in the purge, and the comment may not mean much. How closely did he look at that picture?
Richard did know who was in the picture. And he did see Hurley et al die… at least this version of Richard did because in this version of Richard’s past they did die in the purge. The events that unfold from now on change the fact that they die in the purge. So… previous versions of Richard (from the future… our past as viewers) they were not part of DI.
Richard is looking specifically at a picture of Kate, Jack and Hurley. I can buy them disappearing in an explosion and seeming to die but reappearing in 2007. In fact I can believe all of the time travelers waking up in 2007 after dying (including Daniel),
As variables perhaps they can DIE in 1977 but not die in their rightful time. This would explain how John Locke, who skipped foreward from 2004 to 2007 dies but does not die. He cannot die if he is not in his correct time frame.
If Ben Linus skipped foreward to 2005 from 2004 (after turning the wheel) perhaps he has an extra ten months of life.
They could end the season with him getting shot (again) and rising up from the dead.

What will be awesome is when they show us the same seen next season when Richard Alpert dosen’t recognize them.

so Andre. Your theory would mean our friend Christian shepard also died in the wrong time
ahem. Is it too late to take it all back?
