Fences don’t keep us out…..

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but after seeing Richard, Jack, Sayid, & Ellie swim to the the tunnels, something came to me. I remembered when Richard came to the Barracks to talk to Horace, Horace asked him how did he get through there sonic fences? He told him fences doesnt keep us out. Well I guess we see why, they come thru the tunnels.

And, one more thought….. I don’t think Dharma knows about the tunnels under them as of yet. Maybe they find out during the incident.

  1. very good catch there…. i didnt put those 2 things together. i knew there was a better explanation that the fact that Richard is “dead”, so the fence cant keep him out.

  2. Wouldn’t he have shown up at the barracks completely soaked though?…or maybe he brought a second outfit in a zip-lock or something so Horace couldn’t use his soaked clothes as a clue as to how he got past the fences. Anyway, good catch.

  3. Just to play devil’s advocate here…..

Then why wasn’t Richard wet when he came to see Horace? It doesn’t seem like he would have enough time to dry off.

Great catch though. I hope there is an explanation for him not being wet, because this fits well here.

  4. Richard might not be wet because there is more than likely another entrance to the tunnels. Maybe the one under the water was the closest entrance to them at that time.

  5. Ah, common sense. Something I lack sometimes.

In that case, I agree with you 100%.

With that being said, I have another question (just because I love discussing this stuff): If there are tunnels underground, and smokey resides underground, how does the fence keep him out of Dharmaville? And why can’t he go OVER the sonar fence?

Sorry. I guess I’m kind of hijacking this thread huh?

  6. Who knows why Smokey can’t jump the fence or go under? Actually, that’s a good question, although it may just be a fault of the writers’.
