lol, lost4life, I was just signing in to post the same theory! I thought I should make sure nobody else did though. Glad I did. 🙂
I agree 100%. I believe on the island was originally God and Satan, because maybe the island is a “meeting place” between heaven and hell, if you will, or some sort of battleground for God and Satan. Those people on the ship (assuming it was the Black Rock) accidentally crashed on the island. God welcolmed them and took them under his wing. These are the Hostiles (or Others, wichever). The D.I. is either a few ‘rebels’ from that group off the Black Rock, or they are a new group that happenend to find thier way to the island. Satan convinced thm that they could be able to control the island if they do what they are told. Hence, thier eniemies are the Hostiles, who are followers of God.
Every “hullucination” we have seen (like Kate’s black horse, for example) Satan (aka Smokey). Satan has always been known as a shape-shifter. And a possesser.
In my opinion (and this is how I hope it goes, since I am sick of happy endings) the writers are writing this basing it off the question: What if Satan won?
If that’s not a good ending, I don’t know what is.
The white screen at the end, is a symbolism is good will prevail. I believe they represent good/evil,, but I think they will likely be ancient pre bible so Anubis and Horace is likely.
i agree totally with you Dharma Dancer. i couldnt think of an ending that would make me happy, but an evil ending would be fantastic! oddly enough a happy ending would make me mad and an evil ending would make me happy ha that’s ironic.
haha @ predictable. I totally agree I am so sick of these last minute miracle happy ending never in a million years bs!
I used to want to write stories or movies with realistic endings… you know how lost is bad robot, i wanted to name mine bad endings.
as for good prevails… they just keep saying that, i have yet to see it in this modern age.
remember the remake of the Thomas Crown Affair? talk about changing the ending to be a lame happy ending…total crap!

Jacob is God, No Name or “Rival” is Satan.
or perhaps Anubis and Horace – the original God/Satan.
