Sobek More Likely Than Taweret

Sobek looks physically more likely to be the 4-toed statue on LOST than Taweret.
The statue doesn’t look pregnant or female, for one thing.
Hopefully if the picture I manipulated with my graphics program shows up, it will show how much more Sobek looks like the statue than Taweret…..

Just imagine the statue the color of stone, that it’s holding a second ankh in it’s left hand, the arm down at it’s side, that it has on sandals LOL and it’s feet are together, but mostly that the headpiece is cut off above the flat base of it…..
i might be inclined to sway with this idea, i mentioned earlier in the week that Horace used the form of Sobek to retrieve osiriss body parts from the nile.
and alot of people have started touching on the guy talking to jacob at the start, may be a spirit that can manipulate peoples bodys ie the new john locke.
i disagree entirely about these sentiments but yeah. that id drop a bit a wee idea in.

WVLostFan, Good call on Sobek. It has the head of a crocodile, while Tawaret has the head of a hippo.
It certainly looked like a crocodile to me, because of the teeth.
I’ve got an Egyptian Mythology text which I have been going through since the episode as I really wanted to get the statue sorted in my own head. There is a picture of 600BC ish statue of Tauret (goddess of childbirth) and it is identical to the statue. The ‘snout’ is quite long, with teeth and it has the small ears which are on the Lost statue (that’s what put me off thinking it was Sobek) she is also holding an ankh in both hands in exactly the same was as in the show. Sorry I can’t share the picture – was a ‘that’s it!!!’ moment when I found it.

The official ABC.com episode recap says different.
“And as the camera pulls back, we see what we’ve been waiting to see since we first glimpsed that four-toed foot over three years ago… the towering, majestic statue of the Egyptian goddess Taweret.”
Well, Tas and Almighty Face, I agree that it looks similar to Tawaret’s head and since the ABC episode recap says that, I guess it IS Tawaret, BUT, the body is male. It is not shaped like a pregnant female body, so it’s confusing. The tapestry portion that Ilana found tacked to the wall of “Jacob’s Cabin” showed the statue more clearly and from the side more than the photos do and the body is not feminine. That is what is confusing all of us that are interested in this part of the LOST season 5 finale storyline. I would love to see the picture in the Egyptian Mythology book of Tas’s that shows a picture of Tawaret that looks identical to the statue, because any figure I’ve ever seen of Tawaret shows a very pregant female figure, not wearing an Egyptian kilt.
