What if its not that hard?
When Locke was on the plane. He was still in his wheelchair. When the plane crashed he was suddenly walking. That is how he first believed that the island is something special. Next thing that convinced him more was the monster that he saw(Where is it now?). I believe that he said that he spoke to the island. I am thinking that Locke was the only one who Seth could use to convince Ben. But the first thing he needed to do is to convince Locke. So the monster was all him. That is how Locke started to believing in the islands powers and stopped Sayid to make contact with outside world. If he would make contact Seth couldnt use Locke. In season 4 Seth tells Locke(Claire thinks that she is with her father) that he has to move the island. Locke was convinced because he saw Claire with him. Seth didnt expect that the frozen donkey wheel will be turned by Ben. When Ben turned the wheel the flash happened and the island wasnt there anymore. The flashes were happening. Locke was still thinking that he was the one who should turn the frozen donkey wheel. Seth used that and tell Richard to tell Locke to tell him that he has to die if he wants to leave the island. Seth needed Locke dead, so he told him that they all have to come back, because he probably knew that Ben desperately wants to come back on the island, and that Ben will monipulate him.(Maybe he saw the future?). Ben killed him, used jack to convince the others and take Locke. When Ajira 316 Crashed Seth took Lockes Body and monipulate with Ben. When Ben said to him that he needs to be punished, Locke used Alex to convince him more. So when Ben killed Jacob, Seths plan come true.
One more thing. When Seth appeared in Alex body Smoke monster went back in his home. That means that Smoke monster is afraid of Seth, or that the Seth is its master.
Really good points here. I missed that earlier stuff and the way it relates specifically to Locke.
Locke gets healed when he arrives on the island. I think Jacob represents salvation, redemption and healing while Seth represents destruction, corruption and death.
So why would Jacob Heal Locke when he is his enemies pawn?
It is not Jacob who heals him. It is the island or it has to do with that statue. We all know that the island is special, but it has nothing to do with Jacob. Why do people think that Jacob is god. because of his white shirt. If thats true. Then the god was killed and the devil won. Think people.
Lol. I don’t think Jacob is god. I don’t believe in god in the religious sense. Nor do I think the other guy is the devil.
These are motifs that Lost is famous for. Referencing stuff. Especially religion.
What I am trying to say is, the two characters of Jacob and Whoeverhisnameis, seem to represent opposites. Healing is the opposite of destruction, hence my belief that people are healed by Jacob.
Jacob spends all that time ‘creating’ the tapestry. This is why I see him as a creator and theotherguy as a force of destruction. Mainly due to the fact that they seem diametrically opposed, both morally and in purpose.
Creator/healer/protector vs Destroyer/corrupter/killer.
Finally, how can an island or a statue heal people? If this show continues on it’s current themes and doesn’t go too far into the supernatural. Then there is going to be some scientific explanation for the healing. Ie tissue regeneration via some medical machinery from the future. Human cloning and stem cell research to fix Locke’s back. Who says these two guys are not from the far future. Would explain all the paranormal stuff on this show, just write it off as science fiction. Much easier to swallow than paranormal. I think anyway.
It can easily be a curse. That is why the island is healing. or the spell who was performed by egyptian god Tavaret.
I believe Jacob has another loophole countering Seth’s loophole. I don’t believe though the losties changed anything. I believe they created the incident.
I believe in order to solve lost, we have to find the scene that started all this mess and where the loop ends and restarts. Somewhere inbetween the two sides are trying to find loopholes each for its own purpose.
If the thing that started this is Black Rock, then what about the statues? There is more to it.
You’re forgetting one thing…Locke (or whoever his name is) looked genuinely shocked to learn that Ben had seen Alex underneath the temple. Judging by his reaction, perhaps the smoke monster operates by itself.
The reason Jacob healed Locke (both times) was to give him a choice when he got to the island. Jacob may or may not have any idea that Locke would be used as a pawn. And if it wasn’t Locke the evil dude used, why could’t it have been somebody else? Sayid or Kate or Jack or Sawyer or ANYBODY else could have been exactly where Locke is now.
And if Jacob is God, and if he knew what would happen to Locke (and in turn, happen to him), then he still would have healed him, because God believes that everybody (even our enemies) should be treated with kindness and respect.
I feel the island is the place of power, if that power derives from a spiritual source, magical source, or mechanical source I can not yet say I have only my opinion and it is one I have long held.
I do not feel Jacob is the “God”, I do feel the island itself is the place of power and Mr. Black Shirt and Jacob are both living on it under an uneasy truce. Perhaps it is “hallowed” ground and neither may kill one another there. Perhaps, they can not kill each other anywhere due to some agreed upon laws. That said they would need surrogates.
Such as Ben.
Free choice and free will are so key here.
i can agree with the idea that locke believes just about anything that is thrown his way yeah.ben’s been manipulating him from the beginning, out of all the characters in lost locke is the most naive by a long long way.
Do we know more specifically what John Locke meant when he said that the island spoke to him (or something along those lines)?
