Here’s Smokey!

So I was just reading AES’s post and it got me thinking about Smokey.

Most seem to agree that Smokey is MIB. And while I used to agree with you, I started to think of the other possibilties. AES brought up that Anti-Locke seemed surprised at what Smokey said to Ben and Jacob seemed prepared to die. So I started thinking: What if Smokey is on the same “team” as Jacob? What if for some reason Jacob set it up so that he would die (to change something?) ? What if he used Smokey in the Temple to tell Ben to follow Locke so that he would die?

  1. I like the things about jacob being like jesus, but i have a theory about him being god, please look at my john 3:16 theory its pretty interesting. But ugh! lost is so confusing cause theres so much to think about and it seems that every week we dont learn anything new, but more questions are raised, though we have more to work with… yeah that mde no sense. man i always get off task when i write a comment. But good theory.

  2. I agree with you that Smokey and Jacob’s Adversary ( I call him that because using MIB conjures up images of aliens, Johny Cash and Tommy Lee Jones) are not one and the same. I have a different take on it that will be posted soon. I like where you went with your theory, especially with the dualism being past/future instead of light/dark, good/evil. Very nice.

  3. I love the idea of an allince between Jacob and Smokey, although I do question the monsters alligance to anyone really, but it just seems odd to me that he would take a side with the MIB.

The idea that he doesnt attack the others in all the time we see them, including Ben when Alex is killed, for me, takes away the thought of him being against Jacob.

I really like your thoughts on past vs future, but I cant help but think of it more as a chaos vs fate idea.
To which one of them sees “what happened happened” as being correct, and the other sees that changing what happened, as a way that allows the previous statement to play out, just with different circumstances.

DD, great theory hear, glad I could be of inspiration.
I have more to add on these things, and we seem to be on the same page, because I have two theories that should be popping hopefully today on both already…Great minds my friend.

I hope my words were helpful again here, and I really think you should expand on the thought of Jacob and Smokey being “friends”.

That is something that many seem to view the opposite on.
Its a risk of sort, but its also a very different approach to the story, and could hold true to being the one that many missed.

Great job here, and I will be back for more thoughts on theses subjects, along with a few theories of my own.
Its been a while since I put out worthwhile theories that arent bashing people for bashing the show, or talking about loops and whatnot, so I thank you for continuing my thoughts here, and getting me up to finishing my almost complete theories.

  4. Oh, and please dont apologize for bringing up religion.

It would be like someone apologizing for saying “science” when speaking of time travel.

Like it or hate it, agree or disagree, it plays its part on Lost, and its something that like time travel, people have to accept, or risk not seeing the whole picture…

Again, great job here, killer thoughts, and again, I urge you to research and elaborate on Smokey and Jacobs relationship.

  5. Oh and lostie411, I wanted to point out that in Christianity, Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are all three parts of one whole. So me saying “Jesus gave His life for His people” is essentailly the same as me saying “God gave His life for His people”. Just a clarification on my part! 🙂

  6. For a good look into some trinity talk, pleaase see a theory by Kimberly entitled, “The Unholy Trinity”.

Some good stuff there, in theory, and as usual, good conversing in the comments portion.

Fair warning, you will see a lot of references to other theories when you start digging back that far, and to get some of the ideas, and how they began, you may have to read a few other theories that consist of 100+ comments.

But hey, you have 8 months, what the hell else are you going to do?
    ;]

  7. Interesting how Smokey didn’t attack Dharma either. It makes sense why Smokey would not attack the Others if he was Jacob or a Jacob ally. It is even more interesting when the anti-Locke is helping been with his judgement. Ben falls, Locke disappears. Then Smokey appears, does his thing, a cleary controlled by something else Alex then shows up. Then Locke finally comes back.

Who’s side is Smokey on? Or is he just the island itself? Its hard to get too deep, because so much is going to be revealed next season.
