Name Meanings
I heard somewhere that the selected names of characters in LOST are very important. So I did a little research and found the meanings of most of the names… this may be important….
Kate- Inoccent… So that you will prove yourselves to be blamless and innocent, children of God above reproach
Jack- God is Gracious… The same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world and changing lives everywhere
Jacob- Supplanter… And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever
John- God is Gracious… The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation
Ben- Son of My Right Hand… You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great
James- Supplanter… Yea, I thought I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Juliet- Youthful… I have set the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved
Michael- Who is Like God?… Whos is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in boliness, fearful in praises, doing wounders?
Richard- Powerful Ruler… The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understnading have those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever
Hurley- Lover of the Sea… Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning
Desmond- Youthful… God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work
Charlie- Manly… Be stong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go
Claire-Brilliant… For with you is the fountain of life; in your light, we will see light

i have been looking at some of the names of the characters aswell, a lot of them are very biblical arent they?
also some of the charactors names are actual real life people who lived years ago and the work that they did was very important to our world today? very intersting. cant wait to see what season 6 has instore for us? eko rocks
I agree that the names of the characters mean something, like John Locke and Rousseau were famous philosophers… but some of them don’t seem to fit, like Kate= innocent… lol she’s the complete opposite of innocent.

John Locke is a perfect example…rather than look up the meaning of ‘John’, look up the philosopher who shares the exact same name, John Locke.
