Sawyer’s big con

Please bear with me with this theory. I have to write them down as soon as i come up with them before they stay in my head and get convoluted and homogenized. But this theory goes as follows:

What if the Island is like the prison in the episode were sawyer and the bald black warden start a con on the short bald headed guy sawyer call “costanza.” for a but load of hidden money.

The island would be the prison and the warden could be Esau, Jacob, smokey, whoever the protagonist.

The warden gets oceanic flight 815 to land and then brings in his ringer, the best con man in the biz…Sawyer to start his endgame.

In other words the big picture of the whole series is that it is a long con and Sawyer is the one that is really in control.

Now what the warden or sawyer is after …well you can add what you like in here. Maybe the Warden is like alvar hanso the overseer of the island and he needs something on the island only sawyer or a conman can get…or maybe the warden could be like widmore and sawyer is his ringer to set things up or wid’s return….who knows.

Sorry for the bare bones of the theory and i know i could have done alot more work to add to this theory but i really wanted to just get the point across and maybe someone else can add the meat and other good stuff to it. Also want to apologize if i spelled sawyer wrong i wasnt to sure of it and just wanted to get out my idea.

  1. it would indeed be interesting if a lostie is in on it. and sawyer would seem the most logical choice, however his time with the others on hydra island might be problematic to your theory

  2. Hi bunkum, nice job with the creative aspects of your theory!

It is hard to deny the ‘observatory aspects’ of ‘the island’.

Whether it is a prison, hospital or something which exists only in the higher realms, somebody is indeed watching everything that occurs there.

  3. Achalli, fantastic question! Jeremy Bentham designed The Panopticon to be viewed perfectly from all angles.

Bentham stated: “As the watchmen cannot be seen, they need not be on duty at all times, effectively leaving the watching to the watched”.

I suppose this might mean, that ‘the observer’ is on the outside and at times on the inside, when necessary. Thanks for making me think!

  4. Your good, we are a lot better.

Ben says this to Sawyer when he cons him in to believing he had a pacemaker.

You call Sawyer the best Con Man in the biz, I would argue that he is not even the best Con Man on the island!

    🙂
