Other, Others?

I realise this is an old idea revisited but did anyone else think that the “others” living at the temple were not the same Others as those living in Dharmaville?!

These others are dressed in rags and seem to have their own leader…..people have speculated since season three that there might be two sets of others, those with Ben and those who walk through the jungle bare footed (as seen in Season 1).

So my question is; are there two sets of others? both similar and not at odds but one who prefer living in the temple and some who like some creature comforts.

Also one group has Ben and Richard and one with the two new protagonists we saw in the temple…………?

  1. I think that there was the original island inhabitants (from way back when) then Dharma came, and the original inhabitants became “the others”. Then, the purge happened, and the left over Dharma people, and SOME of the “the others” came together as “the Others 2.0”.

Seems that the original others lived in the Temple all this time, for some unknown reason.

Remember when the freighter people started to come to the island? Ben told a bunch of “the others 2.0” crew to head to the Temple for protection. That’s how Cindy ended up in that scene in the temple.

  2. Others 2.0 i like the idea. I just dont understand why there is now a new group of people who know more than Ben does as if Ben knew about a healing spring why would he need a spinal surgeon…….

  3. @ brother_des,

    You’re right.
Maybe it can only heal bullet wounds.

Wasn’t Ben saved in the temple?
Either way, he knows of its existence, how could he not know about the fountain. Or could it be that you can only be saved once?

  4. If he was unconscious during the ‘swim’ then taken straight out of the temple compound he wouldn’t know what happened. Even sending people to the temple, maybe he doesn’t know that there are people there, just old others stories of a sanctuary at the temple and that’s why he thought they’d be safe.

  5. Not just Japanese but why speak Latin and write ancient greek (Jacobs tapestry) on an island with so many Egyptian hieroglyphs! I understand not using ‘glyphs as it was only really a form of writing for priests and a select few compared to demotic but still Ancient Latin, Greek and Egyptian all on one island is a lot!! and the whole japanese element is a stretch…..

  6. Greece conquered Egypt. Rome(Latin) conquered Greece. The three are pretty closely in historical perspective. As far as Japanese is concerned, I think it’s pretty obvious that it’s his native tongue, and he said himself that he doesn’t usually deign to speak English.
