The Black Smoke on the small island
I almost forgot about this train of thought I had the day of us knowing that in fact the New John Locke is the Monster (season 6 premiere).
If I am not mistaken, most of the fan community thought that the black smoke did not reside on the small island were the Hydra station of the DI is located. BUT, on season 5 we see the New John Locke (or the monster) on that same island!!! I think that a mayor answer was delivered regarding the mosnter’s ability to move from one place on the islands to another place there. MY question is: DOES THIS IMPLY DIRECTLY THAT THE SMOKE MONSTER CAN GO OFF ISLAND? Or at least from the big island to the small one and so…
With all the tunnels going on, is it possible that there are underwater tunnels? Or can smokie travel anywhere within the special ‘border’ of the two islands?
I think the small island is somewhat attached to the main island. I mean both islands are within a circular area, so smokie can travel anywhere within that circle (except for the special ash and sonic fence of course).
Remember when Ben moved the island Jack, Kate, etc. was in the helicopter and both islands disappeared, so they didn’t have a place to land.

As for The Hydra Island (what you call the small island) is part of the ‘the island’ itself, it all moves together in a bubble!
