Claire’s ultrasound

october 22, 2004 would have been her due date, that’s what they do on ultrasounds, doesn’t anyone have children? Nothing fishy. She was 36 weeks when the plane crashed, due date is at 40 weeks. Case closed.

Hi. I am an uber Lost fan. Admittedly, I jumped on the bandwagon a little late, halfway through the third season but thanks to the DVD's I am all caught up and do frequent re-watches. BTW my new image reflects my love/hate relationship with Lost. I always feel like I am on the verge of blowing up at the end of every episode because when I think I finally figured it out, nope the rug is pulled out.

  1. Never been pregnant so no, never had an ultrasound.

If I ever have one though I think I’d rather it show the date the ultrasound was taken as a sort of “this was my baby at X months”.

But if that’s the way they do them then I can’t really argue.

Strange that her due date is exactly one month after Flight 815 though.

I know that sometimes babies come earlier or later than the due date, but it’s interesting that in the original timeline Claire gave birth on 1st November 2004.

Have no idea if that means anything or not.

    Thanks for clearing this up.

  2. I actually have two kids and they NEVER put the due date on the ultrasound, and I have at least 8 ultrasound sets of pictures to reference. It was always the dates the pictures were taken.

To try to take middle ground rather than closing the case, perhaps some places put the due dates and others put the dates the pic was taken. I’m not sure why they would put due dates considering that date is the least predictable… whereas the picture as a point of reference on the date it was taken is more significant to parents and healthcare providers alike.

So sorry guys, I tend to lean towards the date shown on Claire’s was the date it actually was.

I suppose if we see a Sideways flash to the 2004 baseball world series or something like that, then we’ll know for they were in October not September.

  3. I actually saw a pic of someones ultrasound (due to them putting me in my place on the subject) today…it really makes perfect sense.

I seriously ran in the door to post it and saw this post…I fully agree.

Upon further thinking, I cannot see the relevance of making it October.

Out of curiosity…anyone catch any dates in the airport?
They are usually posted everywhere in airports…

  4. AES, I have thought about the same thing…as in why exactly would they make the dates different? At first it seemed like it could be one of those things that was like Boone not being able to get Shannon to come home, or why Des was on the plane. So not being able to answer it is why I was a bit reluctant to write it off completely I guess. But I’m also not going to spend my time worrying about it too much, because other parts of the Sideways timeline have kept my attention, as you know.

If it is a mistake, then it’s too bad because people do scour EVERYTHING.

Again, if some places put due dates and some don’t…I’m totally good with that. I’m just glad they didn’t ever do it for me considering that both of my kids were 10 and 6 days late, and I didn’t need any reminders. Due dates gone by are miserable when you’re pregnant. 😉

  5. Kim, I… know…what you…mean…?

    no, I really cannot say I do…lol..

I just caught this early today and realized that it could be something that is possibly far too overanalyzed….

Just wanted to make sure people were aware that it is a possibility…
