How To Sink a Faux Island **Relates to a Recent Spoiler**

Recently Lindelof gave a one-word spoiler relating to the ending of Lost…
”water”. This is supposed to be a very serious clue, though, as he said, it may sound funny. I will also note that Darlton suggested that by the end we will be wondering “what” the island is.
We have seen the island at the bottom of the ocean, and we all know that real islands do not float on top of the water and thus cannot sink. Underneath real islands are mountain ranges and/or volcanoes.
My theory is that the island we have come to know and love (whatever it really is) is sunk using the tunnels that run beneath it. If it is floating on top of the water, and then the tunnels are flooded with ocean water, it would sink. (This reminds me of the famed “Money Pit” on Oak Island which is a deep pit that floods with ocean water before anyone can reach the bottom of it.)
I believe that the reason for sinking the island is MIB/Smokie. MIB seems to have an aversion to water, as does Smokie. Maybe the only way to destroy the entity that is Smokie is by submerging the entire island!

  1. i think its related to the fact that they show them drinking water all the time. there is something up with the water supply. dont show em eating all the time. but they are always freaking drinking. i’m just as into hydration as the next castaway, but they focus on it a bit much.

  2. I don’t know how the island sinks but I do agree with you on the water issue. Mib/smokie wants to go home and we now know home is not the temple. He wants to get off the island and could not before because he was surrounded by water. Smoke cannot travel through water, that is how he was trapped. Now in human form he can leave.
There must be a link between the smoke and ash, maybe the are from the same place.
Before I go too far with that I want to end by saying I agree that the only way to kill smokie is by sinking the island, Putting the smoke out… Haha

Please excuse mistakes, typed on my phone.

  3. I can’t help but think about the Lost Experience reference to Heavy Water. Heavy Water was a password that was used to unlock one of the clues.

Also just for kicks I also remember a funny MacGyver episode about it. Here is a scene from it:
    Jack Dalton: Holy Toledo!

    Mukti: What is it?

    MacGyver: Heavy water plant.

    Mukti: What is that?

Jack Dalton: Big trouble. They wanna make H-bomb, to bild heavy water plant.

    Mukti: What this H-bomb do?

Jack Dalton: kill people. Just one wide size of city New York.

Mukti: Why the Kabulstan’s wants frightening device

    Jack Dalton: For power, greed…

    Macgyver: insanity…welcome to our world.

    (just moments later)

    MacGyver: that’s Dr Liang.

Jack Dalton: Do you know him?

MacGyver: Yeah. Liang is chinese H-bomb scientist.

Also, research has been done on heavy water in regards to how it could give a person eternal life. Dr. Stephen J. Toner of St. Mary’s College:“All available evidence points to the fact that heavy water slows down the normal chemical life processes. I am inclined to believe that as our frontiers of knowledge in this respect are pushed back we will find that the accumulaticn of heavy water in the tissues may tend to prolong youth rather than to induce premature old age.”

Maybe this is why Richard has not aged? Maybe heavy water is what is in the temple?

Here is the wiki link that tells you all about its properties http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water
