just a sucker for a sappy ending

I know I am being a LOST dork, and I know as fellow LOST fans, we all have different opinions as to what we would find a satisfying ending, but does anyone find it disturbing that the story’s apparent direction is a war between characters that we loved and were once friends for 5 seasons before? Do any of you think that it will have a twist after this war occurs and at least if the ending is “sad and beautiful” as per Matt Fox, it won’t be because they killed each other? That would be way too disturbing and leave me as a devoted fan since day 1 with an uneasy feeling about the closure. If the ending has to be sad, at least let them remain bonded in friendship. There is much great insight and projections on this site, and was hoping for some glass half full people.

I am certainly going to miss LOST when it ends and have a feeling that I will be switching off between nail biting and crying throughout the entire final season. The possibility of them dying is just awful when you really love and enjoy the characters. I would love to see a LOST SPECIALl that airs AFTER the season finale that goes through many of the episodes pointing out clues and interesting tidbits that we may have missed the first go-round or even if we re-watched any. Even if most of the mysteries and questions are addressed in the finale, little things that LOST fans enjoy blogging about (paintings on walls, photos in scenes, clocks, someone in background that is significant, etc)would make for a great LOST SPECIAL. Anyway, this is a great forum.
