the images in the lighthouse mirror: why jack shepard isnt #23
Written 9th March
Hi all!!! So i know i am a little late on the lighthouse episode but i just got approved as a member (yayyyyy). so here is a thought i have, it’s not really a theory more of an observation, let me know what you think of it:
So when jack and hurley are in the lighthouse and hurley is turning the mirror you can see the different images in it. the first image is the temple where sun and jin got married, which was also the place where jacob visited them. the second image is the church where sawyer’s parents were buried, also the place where jacob first visited sawyer. the third image is jack’s childhood home, so jack has a sh*t-attack and breaks the mirror. But, jacob visited jack for the first time (that we know of) in the hospital, not his childhood home. I know that jack thinks that it’s his childhood home so jacob has been watching him his whole life blah blah, but then wouldnt the other images be where sun and jin grew up, or the house where sawyer grew up and not the places where they met jacob? so i am thinking that the shepard on the list is christian. jack also says that he hasnt been to that house in a really long time, so i am thinking christian has spent more years of his life at the house than jack has.
Also, not sure if this is at all relevant but in the flash sideways where jack goes to help his mom find christian’s will and he is sitting on the chair having a conversation with his mom there is a picture behind him of two man, the faces are blurred out but one is wearing a black tuxedo and the other white, the one in black has darker hair, like christian maybe, and the one in white has very light blond hair, like jacob. did jacob and christian know each other?? i remember reading a theory in here that said they think that christian is more than just a regular person. maybe he is one of the “gods” or whatever jacob and mib are.
let me know what you think!!!

Ooo this is very interesting
brilliantly spotted, really good eye. I just watched that scene in Christian’s office, and although the faces are blurred, I agree with you it is Jacob. Plus he is in a white suit as you say.
Not sure if your aware of this but Emzi, the administrator of this site, has a blog about Lost that you can get to in the links section. In her review of The Lighthouse she had the same idea about it being christian not Jack.
thanks for the heads up roland! i actually havnet check out her blog but ill take a look at it.
although, i wrote this a while back but having seen the next couple of episodes after the lighthouse im starting to think that it probably is jack, seeing as he is taking the leadership role and all the crap. but i really do wish my idea was true, i really dont want it to be him! he is so F-in annoying! i just want to punch him in the face
I’ve always loved the idea of Christian as #23 but as you said, obsessed, the next couple of episodes are showing Jack come into his own (finally… I was ready to give him some cheese with that whine).
However, I am still someways hoping Christian to emerge as #23 OR even the original #23… and candidacy as being attached to any number of people in a lineage, and not so much a specific person (this thought doesn’t take into account whether Claire counts a Littleton or ALSO as a Shepard and other such previously debated ideas).
obsessed… You’ve got a keen eye, for sure! Post your spottings in future eps, please!
Wow! Brilliant! I haven’t thought of that. So it maybe Claire or Christian. That would be a great twist!
I always had a small hope that it would be Jack’s grandfather Ray… he was so cool and secretive it would have been good to see him on the island. Plus it was presumed that he had been there before.
