What happened to the rest of the Tawaret statue?

We know that the statue was in one piece when what looked like the Black Rock arrived at the Island which was in the 1800’s. However, by the time 2004 arrived, only the foot of the statue remained.

i have seen various ideas stating that maybe a tidal wave destroyed the statue. If this were the case though, the statue would have been blasted inland. The fact that there are no remains of the rest of the statue must mean that it is underwater so what ever force destroyed the statue came from on the island and sent it into the sea. What could be powerful enough to blast a whole statue into the sea?? Personally I have no idea.

Or failing that and ignoring all the above, maybe there was an earthquake and the statue just fell forwards; simple.

  1. Well considering the size of the statue, even if it did fall forwards im sure some of it would still be visible because the statue was basically on the beach (if i remember correctly) so surely the water is quite shallow?

    It really is a mystery!

And on the topic of falling statues, i recently seen a trailer of a film where a statue crumbles and all that appears to be left is the foot.. So maybe if i go watch that film i MIGHT get a slight idea lol.
My next task is to remember the name of the bloody film!

  2. I have a feeling that whatever caused the statue to fall is also what caused the Black Rock to wind up in the middle of the island. I was trying to come up with some ideas on this – but nothing solid so far…maybe the ship didn’t move to the middle of the island, maybe the island moved under the ship, maybe at some point the island was moved and came up underneath the ship (?) but that wouldn’t explain the Taweret’s collapse…and its an awful lot of maybes!

  3. Fans of this site – I am posting this question here as a comment in the hopes it will actually appear and perhaps I can get some insight.

Can anyone help me understand the following? – I have commented several times on theories and questions, but I shy away from posting theories of my own. However, I have submitted a few questions. Lately, my questions either take forever to post putting much distance between the episiode that aired and my question OR it never posts at all. I am always polite and appropriate so I do not get it. I try to be relevant and see that many others don’t necessarily follow suit.

Do any of you know why this may be? Do any of you you know who is in charge of this site?

It’s a bit of a bummer, particarly when you see someone post a shout out to a team, for example, and that gets posted instead of a legitimate LOST issue.

Last time I was trying to be amusing proposing a Sawyerr/Miles cop drama spinoff so it wasn’t important but I see all kinds of stuff like that and I posted it in FUN as well.

Thank you to anyone who can shed some light.

  4. lostonlongisland: I don’t know if this helps, but I believe the Moderator is not in the states and does not get to view the weekly episodes until Friday night. So anything posted between Tuesday and Friday won’t get moderated or posted until after that time (so that the episode isn’t ruined for the moderator by what people have posted).

  5. I suspect the island has been underwater more than just the one time in the FSW… Even on the timeline we are seeing on the island, it may have been submerged in the past that we don’t know about. The rushing in water might have enough force to crack it at the calf…

The dynamite theory makes me want to say that even the foot wouldn’t have survived, because the statue is so tall, they would have to place the dynamite at the statue’s absolute base (near the toes), so that part would have been blasted away too.

  6. @lostonlongisland-Im not sure if your referring to me because I have made several references to sports team & what not in the past and I even posted another just recently an Im wondering if its coincidence you suddenly mentioning this now?

If anything is irrelevant on this site then im sure its posted in the “just for fun” or the General Chat sections or at least in my case but im just wondering.

  7. @foreverpuzzled-If Jughead destroyed the statue then that means the Island wasnt destroyed by jughead going off in 1977.

That would mean something else would have to happen in order for the Island to be underwater sometime after 1977 but that cant be right because the Island still exists for sure in 2004-2007 that we know.

An if you remember the statue was destroyed in both timelines so I dont think it was Jughead & I dont think it was there in 1977 either.

Thats why I think Jughead went off in the Alt Timeline Island that Dr. Linus & his father were talking about, I think instead of just time traveling, they also may have traveled back in time but on the Alt Island & thats why the Island is underwater in only one reality & thats because only 1 jughead went off.

  8. @BING – Nah, not at all, it’s just a coincidence. I was trying to think of a subject that gets posted in any section that may be just fun and entertaining, and not a serious theory or question. Not having my question or “fun” item posted has happened to me before so this time I thought perhaps that me making a “fun” type reference (posted it in FUN and QUESTION) to a Sawyer/Miles cop drama spinoff was not getting posted because it was deemed irrelevant or something by the site moderator, yet other items get posted that are similar in tone and intention. Plus, it can’t be a US Tues vs UK Fri spoiler thing, because lots of theories and questions about “Recon” have already been posted. It just bums me out a bit and discourages me from ever attempting to post anything. I really enjoy what all the fans of this site have to say, seriously or just for fun, and like I told itsdesmondbrutha, I feel like a misplaced Ben on the outside looking in at the others interacting (lol). Anyway, I guess I am being silly, but part of the enjoyment of this site is getting your own thoughts out there, serious ones or fun ones, and getting others to react and add. That’s all. Thanks for “listening”…appreciated…Spring is here – GO Yankees! [I’m from New York ;-)].

  9. hey bing obviously the island was not destroyed in 1977 or else they would not have been on it in 2007.The island has the power to travel thru time so its ,imo ,possible for the island ,or maybe the island guardian if you will, to send the jughead bomb back in time. This could explain how it was destroyed in the past. Not quite sure where you get that there are two island timelines. As far as I know there are two off island time lines but all on island time lines seem to be only 1.As far as the island being underwater goes who knows when this happens and what caused it. Nothing has been explained about it yet so I wouldn’t go jumping to any to any conclusions if I were you.

  10. Ok lostonlongisland, I understand an the same thing would happen to me with comments I posted an theories an what not.

The admin will probably be checking on your posts and comments for awhile but when they see your cool and contributing then im sure they will give you full use of the site so dont get discouraged.

  11. @foreverpuzzled-Jump to conclusions? This is a theories site right? Its just one of my many theories involving this show but how else can anybody explain why the Island is underwater in one reality and not in the next?

If Jughead always goes off in 1977 by some time-traveling losties originally from 2007 then we wouldnt have an Island in 2007 (You know the reality we actually want to watch on the island)

Ok, lets say Jughead didnt cause the Island to go underwater when it exploded in the pocket of energy in 1977, that would mean something else after 1977 would have to happen to the Island to sink it, but how is it possible if we have a Island in 2004?

Jughead obviously sank the Island an thats how we have this Alt timeline that differs slightly from our original timeline, If Jughead didnt destroy the Island then why didnt young Ben & his Father ever return to the Island?

Where Ben would eventually grow up to be a master manipulator & leader of the others, thats cause when he left the day of the incident the past was altered thus changing his future along with everyone on the Island like Alex, Danielle, Ethan, & Ben.

  12. An I dont understand how there is only one Island timeline(?)

We have two Islands with two different realities, one where its intact in 2004 where flight 815 crashes because desmond doesnt push the button in time & there is a 2nd reality where the Island is underwater in 2004 because of Jughead going off in 1977 & Flight 815 lands safely in LAX because of this.

  13. bing 1st of all what i was doing was writing a response to a theory . If you don’t want feedback from me don’t give me feedback. Just thought I would give my opinion about your theory like you did about mine. Sorry we can’t agree but I have a feeling we might both be right and we might both be wrong. Don’t take things personally just trying to share my opinion. And it happens to be I don’t agree with you at all.

  14. Its not that I dont want feedback its just jumping to conclusions? I never got that from anybody from this site an of course its just speculation on my part & I was trying to explain to you the best I can exactly why the statue couldnt have been destroyed by Jughead.

No its not fact but I believe that it is the only reason possible as to why the island is underwater, really there is no explanation but at least I told you why I think that an I guess saying No I disagree is just as good thanks for your insight.

I would have liked to discuss this further with you but I feel it will be all for nothing in the end, I tried to see your reasoning but all you commented on was the first thing I said & had nothing to do with what we are talking about.

  15. It seems only us two are stil posting on this and now it has nothing to do with what the post actually is.

I would love to start a debate & get more opinions on this disagreement we are having, we can call it BiNG vs foreverpuzzled but im not looking for an argument but just a good debate.

I explained myself the best I can & I honestly dont want troubles on this site with anybody including you but I was throwing an opinion out there & instead of just saying that cant be, try an explain why you think it cant be possible or something like that, kind of like I did with your idea about Jughead blowing up the taweret statue.

If you cant thats ok but I didnt take anything you said personal I just didnt get why I shouldnt jump to conclusions because thats exactly what this site is all about in my opinion. Everyone making there own conclusions & own ideas an what not.

I am honestly sorry if I offended you at all an will watch my comments towards you from now on.

  16. Sooooo…it would make some stupid sense that if the Statue represents Jacob in some way, that MIB could have destroyed it, no?

I have to agree that the statues fall and Black Rock may be related…and I always liked the idea that the FIRST spin of the wheel, or move of the island caused the statue to fall, at the same time causing the pregnancy problem…most likely pointing to a scene involving the incident yet to be seen…

Good question…deserves to be back on topic…

  17. thanks A.E.S, i’ve got very bored of Season 6 up to now so ive decided to think about the older questions that still remain unanswered.

I do think that some huge event happens to cause such a big statue to fall and also to cause a ship to end up in the middle of the island. I reckon this event will be the most exciting thing that will have happened up to now in S6.
