Alternative Timeline’s purpose…

In the ALT, Faraday said to Desmond something like “what if this wasn’t supposed to be our life?, what if we had some other life, and for reason we changed things”.
It sounds to me like the ALT is just some kind of anomaly, some kind of reality that SHOULD NOT exist… It’s like a dream, no matter how good (or bad) it is, you know that it is something that doesn’t exist. So there must be a REALLY good reason for this ALT to be there.
I think this ALT is going to STOP EXISTING sooner or later.
So i had a crazy idea, and i mean crazy:  If Jacob gave instructions to Widmore and Eloise (i.e giving that notebook to Farady), then he always KNEW about the creation of the ALT. So what if he (here goes the crazy part) wants to drag Nemesis to this ALT so then it ceases to be. Maybe he is like “Damn, i’m so tired of taking care of MIB for hundreds/thousands of years, but i can’t just kill him, what can i do?”, So he’s been through all this mess just to create a reality where he can imprision MIB for eternity.
I don’t know if this idea has been discussed before, if so, then i apologize. But no matter how crazy my theory is, i’m sure that the ALT will disappear, it just serves a purpose for Jacob’s masterplan.
