Perhaps the ‘light-source’ will be moved?

The one thing that I have found incredibly hard to figure out is any plausible way for the current timeline and the alternate timeline to join. This seems to be where we are headed. However, in the alternate timeline the Island is sunk. Now maybe, there is some means of refloating the Island, but that seems seriously weird!!  A thought finally occurred to me today. Since we now know that it is the ‘light source’ at the heart of the Island rather than the Island itself that is important, perhaps there is a way to move the Island. If this is the case, then perhaps the final two episodes will resolve as follows. The current timeline will see MIB continue his crusade to destroy the Island, and since the Island is sunk in the alternate timeline, then perhaps he succeeds. Jack (and probably some of the others) devise a plan to ensure the ‘light source’ endures. In the alternate timeline, our Losties appear to be converging. Perhaps this gathering involves a mass awakening as to the location of the ‘light source’. Perhaps it is actually in each of them or is somehow passed to each of them from the current timeline. Or perhaps it is another event e.g. the birth of Aaron, that somehow transfers the ‘light-source’ to the alternate timeline???

  1. You don’t know, do you?

    Just kidding… 😉

The events in OT and AT as supposed to take place in 2007 and 2004, respectively, right?

If it was the other way around, I guess it would have been easy to imagine that AT is just the continuation of OT. Apparently it’s not going to be that simple.

  2. Time travel makes “looping” extremely possible and the island being sunk is definitely MIB’s doing. Now we are left to speculate wether he died or if he destroyed the island and finally left. Otherwise, Desmond wouldn’t be so adamant about finding the source again (if that is his goal in the first place). This definitely makes a lot of sense though. Personally, I’m hoping that the finale uses the bare minimum of special effects (because even in LOST the effects look kinda cheesy) and a convergence of the two universes would definitely take the cake from Smokey’s really crappy exit from the tunnel of light. I think the light source being moved would make the most sense because the AT would not exist because life would cease to exist. Desmond is definitely more special than Jack at this point.
