Not a bad ending
Just want to say the ending wasnt as bad as everyone is saying, i came to terms with the fact that there werent going to be any significant answers about the island a couple episodes into season 6 and once i realised that i could enjoy the finale for what it was. Lost has never spoonfed us answers and i think everything is there, there just isnt an official explanation which has always been the key to why we all loved the show, because we actually have to think for ourselves.
Having said that i was going through lostpedia and i started to realise that there are so many episodes that are character based not necessarily to do with the island that seem to have nothing to do with anything, to me anyway if someone could shed some let maybe it would explain the story and the island a bit better. It would bogle my mind if there were episodes (not including Nikki & Paulo) that had nothing to do with anything. The excuse of character based not island cant be used here either! Â heres a run down-
-What was the whole Jack in Thailand to do with? Why was he attacked for the tattoo and what did the tattoo mean ‘hes walks amongst us but is not one of us’ or something like that. Is this just a flashback of a random Jack holiday???
– Any episode to do with Libby, why was she in a mental home with Hurley? Why did she pop up as various different characters?
– Why does Sayid meet up with Shannon, who he went on one date with and not Nadia the love of his life in the church at the end?
– Assuming Aaron didnt die as a baby why does he not enter the church as an adult?
– Why did he and what did Widmore found out by buying the black rock book?
-What was the whole Locke going to that weed growing hippie place ep about? was the whole thing just to say that he gets betrayed?
-Jin buying that panda bear for someone else, what the hell was that about????
Theres a lot more and i maybe missing the point but i just understand why some of these are in anyway relevant to anything now that we’ve got to the end. But anyway still love lost and didnt think the ending was bad, i just think they stretched this out in some places a lot longer than we realised!

Some of those questions are part of the reason I feel dissapointed in the end. There is no resolution to anything that had happened in the first 5 seasons.
I thought Jack’s tattoo would have had more meaning, but it didn’t add up to anything.
They’ve had 4 seasons to tie up the Libby thing. They never did.
I think I can answer the Sayid/Shannon thing. I think it was because they met on the island. He fell in love with Shannon and was heartbroken when she died.
Have no idea about the Aaron thing. Another mystery.
Jin buying the Panda bear was actually a flashback whilst Suns part in that episode was a flashforward. It was setup to confuse us and worked quite well. It was when we were finding out who the Oceanic Six were and they made it look like Jin was one of them, only to have the twist at the end where we find out Jin “died”.
ive just answered the Libby conundrum on another post… she was killed off in Season 2, which left us with no way of finding out how unless someone just randomly says one time, oh i met Libby once before yeah she was MENTAL for a while in Santa Rosa… baldi bladi bla. Its pretty obvious once you think about it. She became unstable after the death of her husband. after she regained sanity she met Desmond and gave him the Elisabeth to help herself let go of her husband.
Not sure im convinced about Libby, if you remember there were a few episodes where she popped up as just some completely different character, i think that maybe they had something a bit deeper planned for her but just gave up on it.
Emzi i hear what your saying about Shannon but Sayid hasnt stopped mentioning Nadia since basically the 1st season, Shannon has barely been mentioned since she died so i wouldve thought it would be nadia who would hook up. Plus he only knew Shannon a few days eternity is a long time!!
I think youre right about the Jin thing though.
Regarding baby Aaron, I think it is one’s soul or spirit that mattered in the purgatory universe. To Claire and Charlie, Arron was a baby, not the 3 yr old toddler that we witnessed with Kate. On the same note, Jeon Kwon was never seen by Jin and therefore it was the soul spirirt of their daughter who was present as an unborn child within Sun.
As far as Sayid, it was the island experience that permitted Sayid to tip the scale toward goodness letting Desmond live in well and when he sacrificed himself for his island buddies. It was in the purgatory universe that he worked through the whole Nadia thing knowing that she belonged with his brother and their chidren, not with him (He also eliminated the men who could hurt Nadia and his brother and teh kids). It was Shannon who he needed to move forward with as they shared the island which provided his redemption as a loyal friend to all there and his moral character development. Shannon, like Sayid was flawed as Jacob pointed out.
