While I also found that to be a really interesting statement – I doubt that we’ll actually get an answer regarding it next week. It’s likely placed in Richard’s episode to set up an even bigger reveal closer to the finale. These things have become the writers’/producers’ m.o.

All I thought when I heard that was…MATRIX..LOL. But, seriously, I hope the island is not hell in disguise, but it sure does suck!
Wait, something just occurred to me..an island is a naturally occurring phenomenon…just a piece of land surrounded by water…
This island has a donkey wheel that moves it, which when malfunctioning, also moves the island through time.
What if none of the island is really an island at all? What if it’s a man-made construct used for …I don’t know..experiments? (Eloise Hawking always did remind me of Stephen Hawking..explains how the rules of physics somehow don’t apply to the island!!!!)
We keep thinking the island is from the past, or it’s ancient and been here forever..what if has nothing to do with the past…but is a time hopping device that WENT to the past and just got people from the past on it, hence the hieroglyphics, but is really a future contraption!?!? Maybe the people originally using it were the two dead bodies Jack found in the caves, so that’s why nobody knows the original intent of the island anymore…
