LP’s
All the talk about LP’s got me thinking. I hope no one has posted this yet so excuse me if it has already been said. What if they can’t change the things on ‘record’ (<–lol) that have already happened. What if they can change the things that have not happened yet, because they have not been put on vinyl yet. Ok so without using the LP as a means to explain the point. Anything ahead of the present has not happened therefore can be ‘written’ the way we want it to. Like Daniel said think of it like a record you can’t change what has happened because it is already been recorded but beyond that hasn’t. So maybe he knew that when he talked to Desmond, he knew he could add a new track to the LP, if you will.
Just a thought, now give it to me guys and gals, let me know if I may have a thought here.

I think that what happened happened and what will happen will happen. As Ben says, destiny is a fickle bitch. I think that it may feel as though you can change the future, or add a new track, because of free will and such. However, it has already been written (remember when they jumped to the future with the canoes) and it can not be changed. Well, that is for everyone except Desmond. For some reason, he is special as Daniel says. How he is special exactly and how Daniel knows that he is special, I have no idea.
To go in the middle of what you two are saying, I think you can change the lyrics of tracks yet to be put on the LP, but the actual track list will be the same, if you catch my drift.
So, you can change the lyrics but not the meaning of the song (course correcting). I like it.
Hi Losthead, take a look at one of my posts on another thread where I provide a possible out. You can’t change whats on the current record, past or future as it’s already been written. The concept of time is relative when looking at it from space.
I believe that it may be possible to change the whole record. One big giant flash. Take the old record off the record player and replace it with another one. No alternate time lines, simply a new one.
I like the thought, but when I think about it, I like to think of a tape instead of a record (maybe I am just too young for vinyl). If you travel back in time (like rewinding a tape) and then hit record the events can change. What I like about the above comments are that maybe the record stays the same but the songs content changes.
LostHead, I won’t comment on the analogy, but you are right about Desmond.
He has proven, by delaying Charlie’s death by saving him on several occasions, that he does have the power to alter the future in some respect.
