Dead Prez – spoiler for those that don’t like knowing titles of future episodes!
Just a thought. I feel a bit silly thinking it, but this has been bugging me since watching Whatever Happened, Happened.
1970s: Ben is in a bad way. The last we see is Richard promising to fix him, but also promising that the kid will be ‘changed’ forever.
1992 – 2004: Ben is leader of the Others.
2004: Christian seems to hold some shady authority. Not saying he’s leader, but he’s dead at least.
2004: Locke is promised the role of leader of the Others. Never seems to get to fill those boots. He goes to make his inauguration speech and shazam, the Others disappear before his eyes. He leaves the island and dies. On returning to the island he is somehow resurrected. I am inclined to believe (and this is the shaky basis of my theory) that he will go on to lead the Others for the rest of the season or at the latest for some time during Season 6.
Put this next to the fact that some 815 survivors were taken. Put that next to the part where Claire’s house got blown up and she wandered off into the woods with Christian, only to appear in the cabin a ‘changed’ woman. Some degree of speculation on the web-vine about Claire in fact not having survived the blast. Could we take this as a clue that the kids and Cindy and others might not have survived the crash? The next time we see them, they’ve ‘changed’.
My thoughts: Would it be completely ridiculous to say that in order to become part of the Others, you have to snuff it?
Could Alpert be dead?
Could Ben have been dead (here, but not really here) from the point where Sayid shot him, throughout his capture by the Losties? Could his tumour storyline be a cover for some other kind of manipulation?
Secondary note: Ben killed his father. Jack and Claire’s father is dead. Locke carried his dad’s dead body back to the Others’ camp.
Anyone seeing the end of the paternal bloodline being a theme here?
