Christian & Locke

Post 2… Hail!

Am not the only one who has seen the strange similitude between Christian Shepherd and John Locke…especially regarding their “Deaths” and “Returns”. Both getting on the island in a coffin and walking around like everything is normal a few episodes later.

Facts:
-Both were “dead” upon arrival.
-Both were wearing a costume (does it even matter? I don’t think so but what if I did…).
-Don’t know if Christian’s death was accidental or not.
-Both are “reborn” with some mysterious knowledge

Question:
-Did Christian set up his own death in order to gain access to the island?
-If so, for what purpose? Has he been called? Has he been there before? Is he part of the larger scheme of things?

  1. I like your question about how Christian dies. He came to Australia to find his daughter, and was miserably drunk. I can’t see him thinking anything through astutely at that point. It does make sense, though, after reading your list of parallels, that he was murdered.
The only motive we would have at this point is Claire’s mom, or whomever was yelling at him at the door when he tried to see her (I’ll have to re-watch that one). Maybe Sawyer’s murder of that random guy he thought was his dad is a clue. After all, Ben did hire Sayid to kill, and time is all messed up these days. Maybe Ben hired Sayid to kill Christian, and that is why he recognizes the name? Just throwing stuff out there, now.

  2. i have a feeling that widmore kills christian. with negative to no evidence. i just like the parallel, widmore leader before ben. widmore kills someone who gets resurrected before ben does

  3. I’ve also been beginning to think that Christian was trying to get ‘back’ to the island. For some reason I think Christian may have been born on the island. His children and grandchild are connected to the island as well.

  4. comment:

Even though the possibility of having Sayid traveling back in time to murder Jack’s father in order to have him revive on the island and become Jacob’s conduit is very appealing, I doubt it fits Sayid’s hitman profile (Christian died of a ,possibly induced, heart-attack) who does not appear to be a very subtle assassin.
I don’t think the whole widmore murder theory can stick, for now, as no evidence lead us in that direction.
