damuse09, some very good thoughts here!
One aspect of what you are saying is, that while ‘the losties’, if able, can effect the changes necessary with ‘the incident’, that it would impact how things work out in the future.
The one thing which comes to mind is, after all they have been through, would they want to return to their respective lives, given how much they have grown as individuals through their experiences.
I am not sure they would all agree it was he best decision. I doubt Ben has to point this out to them, as I think the lessons they have learned thus far, are sufficient.
I do happen to think, they will attempt to change the outcome for ‘the island’ and perhaps for themselves, but that may not pan out exactly as planned!
Hey dab’s, thanks for the input. Probably as you were writing your comment I was writing another theory I just posted that comments on the fact that many of the survivors might not want to keep the plane from crashing because it has benefited them.
I don’t think anything can be changed, and I think they proved it with Daniel being shot by his mother. Whatever happened, or if they change something it eventually will happen anyhow.
As with Desmond, he could only ‘save’ Charlie a certain number of times. Charlie did eventually lose his life, so Des just halted what was going to happen for a bit. So I think if the losties do stop the damage by the Dharma group to the Swan station something else will still damage it.
It worries me that they continue to bring up the idea of changing things. Not because my position on the subject is against it but because the change they propose isn’t the kind of change that we as viewers would like to see.
Detonating the bomb would destroy the islands electromagnetic properties (if it workds like Dan was saying) which I’d imagine would destroy the islands special properties along with it. So no more special island… and we still have a whole season left to go!?!?!
What about their friends on the island in 2007… how does this effect them? I can’t imagine it would have a positive effect. Think about it… Jack and Kate and them would be killed by the bomb. A new timeline would be created where they land safely in LA but they wouldn’t remember any of it (making them essentially different people). Sun, Frank, Locke and the others in 2007 would still be alive though and they might then end up even more lost than ever.
I don’t see how an explosion could fix things for these guys.If faraday is suggesting this, then he’s obviously gotten ill or something. How did he come up with this idea?.
I think that as everything else has been inevitable, even Daniel’s talk with Charlotte by the swings, the accident is not only inevitable, but will be caused, not prevented by the detonation of the H-bomb. It has all already happened before; there’s no reason to believe that it will play out any differently just because the show is focused on this point in the time stream. The players may be living in the past as their present, but it is still the past….. Clear as mud, right….
im a huge lost fan and im sorry to say but i can’t understand how them changing the past is going to work becasue the fact that the 2007 losties are still on the island doing what they are doing so there for the 1977 losties didnt detonate the bomb which blew up the energy which made everything that happend not happen otherwise the show wouldnt have made it to 2007. so either it like someone up the line said the paradox dont effect people on the island only those off the island or the writters are going to come up with some crazy answer to this question becsaue like i said them showing both 1977 and 2007 losties both chilling doing what they are doing basicly shows in plain black and white that nothing has changed otherwise the 2007 losties would never had gone back to the island and in the first place blah blah blah…. all i can come up with is i think they just going around in circles and john lock is the key to stoping the loop killing jacob will free him which will stop the loop of pointlessness breaking the spell that the evil which “island” has casted anyone who has taken a dump on the island… peace out i love XTC…

Nice theory!

Good thought, I will catch up with it!
Again, very nice theory!
I now know why Des is speicial and how the rules don’t apply to him.
Dr.Chang says we can’t kill hitler because there are rules.
But those rules don’t apply to desmond, he can do what ever the hell he wants, change anything he wants. no one else can.
That is why he could save charlie multiple times. No one else could.
But wether Faradys plan works or not doesn’t matter because course correction will kick in just like for charlie.
