Ben and the smoke monster
The whole assumption that Ben has some control over the smoke monster is based on Hurley asking: ‘Did you summon that thing?’…
other possibilities:
Ben has a tracking device to know where the monster is.
Part of the defense system for New Otherton is that when someone enters the panick code (as Alex does) it summons the smoke monster automatically to neutralize intruders in the tree line.
Ben knows that the sonic fence is down and it is only a matter of time before ol’ Smokey comes sniffing around…
Any other theories?
the monster is course correction. The rules were changed when alex died, therefor the monster in a way is there to stop that. Since it didnt, well either killing keamys crew was retaliation or it is just very pissed off
Wow Andre7 the Smoke Monster! I think Ben has some control over it, as he did summon it.
I would suspect Ben was following ‘the rules’ when he did so. I don’t think Ben has ultimate control over it, though. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the future.
I guess the most pertinent question is HOW Ben summons it. I have no thoughts on that.
I believe Ben has as much control over the smokemonster as he is given..by Jacob or the Island It is possible all we’ve seen him do is drop the security fence knowing smokie would be sent.
I’m working on a soon to be torn to shreds theory about smokie, where it’s true appetite is to devour everything in it’s path, But has been tamed by the Island over time.
