What Hurley saw in Jacob’s cabin…

So, I’m watching the first episode of season 4, the beginning of the end. This is the episode where Hurley sees Jacob’s cabin w/out looking for it. He saw a man rocking in a chair, it looked a lot like Christian, but was in the dark shaded area, then a corner of person’s face appeared in the bottom of the window, basically only the left eye. Then Hurley ran away.

Hence, I’m concluding that Hurley saw Jacob, at least his eye. Now, I’ve thought of something else, can Jacob be dead since Hurley claims he can see ghosts? Hurley is the only person we know of that have seen Jacob, it has to mean something. I’m not sure what yet, but the eye he saw didn’t look like an old person’s eye.

  1. Okay, I’m now on the Second Episode of Season 4 (rewatching of course), and Hurley tells everyone they should stop at the cabin, and Ben heard him, so hence Ben is onto the fact that Hurley saw Jacob’s cabin.

  2. Didn’t John Locke saw Jacob also?

I think when Hurley sees dead people he cannot know who is dead and who is not. He can now only about people he SAW dying, or someone he is pretyy shure is dead.(Eko, Charlie, Libbie, Ana Lucia)
But Miles KNOWS exactly who is dead.
    Right?

  3. if hurley sees someone in a rocking chair then an eye apears at the window it means 2 people were in the cabin. doesnt it? if so who were they jacob and christian would be my guess.

  4. Sinister, John Locke did see Jacob sitting in the chair, when Ben took him to the cabin.

When Hurley see ‘the eye’ in the cabin, it was thought to be the eye of Christian Shephard, although this was not confirmed, to my knowledge.

  5. To my understanding Christian is dead….but on the island he’s not. Not sure if he’s a spirit but there were others who saw him and talked to him besides Hurley

  6. locke spoke to him at the fdw before he turned it and sun and lapidus spoke to him at the baracks however christian has appeared off island with jack seing him at the office and michael seeing him on the boat

  7. i believe that Jacob is dead (so is Christian), which is why Locke told Ben he was going to “kill him”. I don’t think you can kill someone who’s already dead! i think Locke wants to expose the fact that their is no living Jacob giving orders and making lists and what not. I think Ben was making all that stuff up.

  8. John didn’t saw Jacob as far as I remember, he experienced it. He heard him but did not seen him.

I don’t remember if Claire was already missing by that point but if it was, then the eye that he saw was probably Claire’s.

Which means she is dead or trapped between worlds just like Jacob and the likes.

  9. What if only believers or people open to the idea that some things in life cannot be easily explained, can see Jacob. John believes, Hurley is open to it cause he sees dead people off island. Ben has never seen Jacob, just said he has. Now Ben sees Locke, who he himself murdered, walking talking, eating mangoes. Ben gotta start believing in the unbelievable pretty soon.

  10. Since that cabin was constructed by Horace, probably he is the real Jacob and not Christian.

Remember the ashes surrounding the cabin?

That was probably there to trap someone inside that region.

Remember what Jacob said to John?

“Help me!” which means Christian is not Jacob since he walking around.

Something tells me that Lock will open the gates of the underworld if that’s what this show is all about.

  11. locked, there is a well known, much publicized and debated picture of Jacob and how he appeared to John Locke in the cabin.

You can find it on the Lostpedia, and numerous other places.

  12. We saw Jacob in ‘The Man Behind the Curtain”, but that doesn’t mean that John Locke saw him as well. I don’t remember anything that has happened on the show that points to Locke having seen him.

  13. If the apparition that is called Christian Shepard is indeed Christian, either alive or dead, then why does he keep running away from Jack? Why doesn’t he simply talk to him the way he talked to John Locke?

  14. Right, we don’t really know that John actually saw Jacob. He heard him but I don’t think he saw him. I think the image of the guy in the chair that we saw was just to let us know, as viewers, that Ben wasn’t just faking it and that there really was someone there.

  15. You know i think christians body was buried where the balloon is,maybe burned then buried. And i also think the corpses in the cave are henry gale and his wife.I think its possIble that anyone who is dead was on the island before and has used the time machine,so thats why were seeing them now.Christian is dead. But in his past he visited the future on the island….simple really………..although that does’nt explain lock does it.Would it have been possible for anyone to have disposed of his corpse when he was brought back to the island, and maybe the locke we are seeing is him when he used the time machine, when we were not aware of him using it, earlier in season 5?.

  16. now im thinking that mr reyes senior switched with a future version of himself, and this old version is the guy in the cabin.Yeah, maybe it was him on his death bed,and to save the old guy he took him to the island so he would’nt die,and sent him into the past.

  17. I agree with locked that it might be Claire since we saw her talking to christian (i believe in the cabin at some other point)

But honestly, I always thought the eye looked like it belonged to Locke. it just looks like his eye. some eye color/character confirmation would be one way of ruling certain people out, if you can even tell the eye color.
