Richard messed up

Written on 14th May 2009

What I pose here is this…

Locke was proclaimed the leader of the others by Richard. I think this is an assumption by him because Locke told him in the past that he was the leader. i dont think it was ever established that Jacob himself had picked Locke as leader of the others. Richard himself went off the island to test locke as a child. He did this because Locke told him in the 50’s that he was there leader. He even tells jack that Locke isnt that promising but Jack, being from the future is able to reassure Richard. I think Jacobs rival had picked Locke himself and had set this entire “farce” into motion.

I think the last leader that Jacob had picked was Ellouise Hawkings, who I think had to leave the island when the statue of

  1. THat’s a nice theory, particularly about clair…this links in with someone elses theory about the ‘anti-jacob’ being able to take the form of dead but not buried…but clair reacted when she saw rousseau and whatever alex’s boyfriend was called dead…and then Jacks Dad (her dad) was the one who persuaded her away from sawyer etc. and besides she’s meant to be in the 6th season again i think…and nice about the elloise hawking that’s a really interesting idea about the statue…do you know for certain that it was that goddess? it looked more male to me…

  2. trickybill, I definitely think the chain of events during ‘the flashes’ placed Locke in a position to make Richard believe he was going to be their leader.

It does beg the question that, Jacob had to have known this, as he only communicated with Richard.

I am not 100% sold that the statue is Tawaret, although it would fit in. The statue seems like it could also represent Sobek, because of the long snout. It looks more like a crocodile than that of a hippopotamus, which is Tawaret.

I guess we will find out about that!

We haven’t learned why Eloise left ‘the island’, but it could have been a result of her pregnancy, combined with ‘the incident’, and Charles being banished/exiled.

  3. I dont think Ben is tainted or was raised by jacobs nemesis.

Richard obviously has a close connection with Jacob, he is the only one who knows where he is, he is the only one who truly speaks to him, and at the end of season 5 he is clearly concerned with Jacobs well being when locke’s body gets dumped out of the casket.

If Jacob did not like Ben, then Richard would know and i dont think Richard would like Ben either, which he obviously likes ben from an early age.

However…. maybe… Sayid shooting Ben and changing history could lead to what you think. (unless of course, that is just the way it always happened.)

in the end, I think the writers will reveal what they want us to know when. I dont think there is any way of figuring out exactly whats going on.
