Jacobs nemises must be….
Sorry if this has been mentioned but I am sure that it is John. The reason is because Jacobs nemises said at the beggining, where the ship was sailing, that he will find a loophole so he can kill him. Also there is Johns body, which ailana brought in, so the real John is dead. So Jacobs nemises is in johns body discised as him so he can kill Jacob.
The resin I think he wanted ben to do it because he didn’t want to get his hands dirty if you know what I mean.

I don’t think this is so much a theory, but rather common knowledge as it seemed to be quite clear from the episode that this was the case.
Jacob’s nemesis, who most agree is named Esau, has taken the form of John Locke. He has then manipulated people and events, and in particular Ben, into killing Jacob.
The reason why is not that he’s too scared to get his hands dirty, but rather that there is some rule or force which prevents him from directly killing Jacob. He requires someone else to do it for him.
