What if the present is the past?
This is just a thought I’m curious to know what everyone thinks.
What if everything we are seeing isn’t the present but instead the past. The first few seasons we thought we were seeing the present but when Sawyer saw Kate delivering Claire’s baby obviously that was the past. When Charlotte died she said Daniel visited her on the island and told if she came back she would die and sure enough she did. This may seem confusing but if what we’re seeing now is the past maybe the future Daniel who had already seen Charlotte die jumped back to when she was a kid and told her to never come back. Maybe eventually we will see a character interact with their future self. I don’t know just a thought.
all good questions and thoughts, but you have to remember, the show has tried to prove to us over and over again the idea of time doesn’t have to be 1,2,3,4,5,6. So putting together the OVERALL TIMELINE is important, but what you are seeing is always the present when it comes to the actual event happening.
There is no true PRESENT. It’s all happening and the fun of the show is putting the timeline together 🙂
yea that’s a good point but it just seems to me that everything on the island is happening pretty sequentially but when we put on and off island events together that’s where it could be in any order.
Hi i think you got something there! in S5E5 it begins with Jin meeting rousoe in the past clearly his interaction with her and her people resulted in them all dying except rousoe and the the unborn alex. So the question we gotta ask our selves is when did this all begin?
It would make sense if only the O6 and co. knew about the whole thing, but there was a national news confrence and everything. It could have been the past on island, but it wouldnt make a difference in the case of the survivors i dont think. It seems to make sense to just say it, but all the little details and flashbacks, plus the children born and conceived on and off island.Also, just think about them time traveling, when they went back and Locke asked richard what year it was, the dates make overall sense with the corresponding events. At least as much as they can on a time skipping island.
I would agree that we will probably see Daniel “back” in another flash when Charlotte is on island, as a girl, and he will tell her to not come back. He will try to manipulate the outcome of her death…
But, I agree with Achara, in that it’s not possible (yet, perhaps) to create any sort of time-line. I think Daniel even said this to Sawyer in “Because You Left.” So there are aspects of the past that are the present, technically.
