  1. I’m not sure I agree. I read an article around the end of the 2nd season with Lindeloff and Cuse.

Basically they said, They came up with the idea for the show and worked out the details. They always intended on answering everything and ending in a way that made sense, not some cheesey bs M Night Smalayan ending. In order for them to do this they needed to tell the story in exactly 5 seasons. At this point they had only been signed for the first season. So after the first few episodes the network was sort of forcing their hand. For example, jack was supposed to die in the 3rd or 4th episode. But they cried, no you cannot kill jack or else! or else we will not sign it. Seeing as how big a hit the show was becoming the Network, of course, tried to milk it for all it was worth. The writers stood their ground and said no, we are not going to bastardize our work and drag this out ten seasons. The network then told them they would again not sign on for the rest, so they met half way and gave them one extra season.

so, you can blame the filthy bastard greedy network execs at ABC, Hollywood in general for ruining everything good about anything truly original.

This explains why the 2nd half of season 2 and the first half of season 3 sucked so much. Which lead to so many lost viewers. Of course people were pissed, they were stalling. They were forced to write an additional 20 episodes without ruining the way they wanted the story to pan out. Can you say Nikki and Paulo? It was hard to endure and I’m glad they got it out of the way early so they could continue on their natural path, because most of season 4 kicked ass, Season 5 was amazing and Im sure season 6 will be Killer.
again, you can blame ABC for the lame ass Jack and Kate (we have to throw some bs romance into this) love quadrangle. and A season worth of nothing happening.

It never fails. take the Matrix. on its own it was a pretty awesome movie. But then the crappy sequels had to come. Why?
Because they know so many people are going to come and see the 2nd one, whether it is garbage or not, based on the success of the first one. Robocop is another example. in fact the 3rd one was so crappy Peter Weller would not even take the part and they had to get a different actor. They are still making Rocky movies for pete’s sake. Why? because they are not creative! they are greedy. Why do you think we have had a decade of reality TV? Because one person has a good idea and then they milk it to death. No one is coming up with anything new.

and this is why animation and the internet are the shit!

for the first time in history, well modern history at least, a writer can say, this is my story, this is how i want to tell it. They will not have to rely on the marketing power or play along with greedy execs. You will not have to watch Director’s Cuts because some punk thought the writers vision was not suitable, or they have to appease so many people from a certain demograph. its just like politics.
With animation and the distributing platform of the internet, writers will not have to agree to what the distributors want to see happen and they won’t have to over pay lame actors who go on strike because they actually have to do some work.
Has anyone noticed there are no more good actors? watch the original star wars. with their horrid special effects by today’s standards. No one notices it because the actors were good enough to make you believe what was going on. Now watch Star Wars 3 revenge of the sith. Awesome special effects, worst acting in the history of acting. Whats with these celebrity rap star Cameo’s? THEY ARE NOT ACTORS! Take Will Ferrel. great in SNL. They have put him in every single movie until you are sick to death of Will Ferrel. because there are no other good actors. Give me tom hanks. give me Leonardo.

I have complete faith, that lost season 6 will be as good as promised and we will get our answers.

sometimes, more is less. Bigger is not always better.

someone posed the question, Quality or Quantity. America made its decision long ago…Quantity, by far. It’s what the dollar demands!

    down with big brother!

    excuse my blatant disgust.

  2. oh, i almost forgot what kicked off this tirade. There is no pressure to keep the series going. It’s been decided from season 2 there will be 6 seasons. The story will end and we will have our answers.

    Hats off to the creators!

  3. It was decided in season 3 to end after six seasons. Also the Jack character was supposed to die in the pilot, so the decision was made rather early. After 1 season, the show was a smash. No way ABC would agree to it ending at this point. Only after the show lost half of its original viewers did they agree.
