What if Jacob never let go?

Don’t know if this question has been pondered, but here goes. In the bible, Jacob wrestled with an angel until the angel agreed to bless him. Once he was blessed, Jacob released him. What if Jacob never let go? What if the writers are expanding/building on this idea? For example, the bible is a collection of stories of higher forces intervening/manipulating events to allow mankind to flourish or progress. Jacob in essence captures one of these forces. I’m not saying that Flocke is an angel in the religious context. He could just be what would have been interpreted in biblical times to be “angelic”. He could be a representative from the future (a simple man with advanced technology), or aliens from outer space (think Chariots of the Gods), or a member of Olympus, or leftovers from Atlantis….whatever the writers want to make him.
