Possible motives for Jacob and his rival
The fact that the writers have shown us Jacob and have shown us that he is not alone in terms of being able to control and manipulate people (past and present) is really something to ponder. I finally watched the season 5 finale last night for the first time, and rewatched the beginning scene where those two are conversing on the beach maybe 5 times, because I feel that segment

Didn’t feel like reading every theory on this site before posting something. I had just finished watching the finale and was in the “theory mode” so to speak. Glad I’m not the only one that thinks Jacob could be evil, but I kinda figured that was going to be the case anyway. I’m more intrigued with the English thing. As if Jacob and the other guy were born and raised in our time period, maybe even in America
Lost fans are ravenous about the show. We seem to nitpick at a very high rate. Consequently, the show runners are constantly answering questions about continuity errors.
So the language could simply be this or it could have meaning. Maybe Darlton will get this question at COMICON this year.
